Ok so this comment is before I see the movie... I have caved and agreed to see it with my friend who I made read the books and everything else Richelle Mead has ever written I could find! :)I'm really hoping the acting is good but going from what I have already seen of preview not looking good :(
Am I the only one who actually likes the Dimitri actor? I mean, I only watched about 15 minutes of it (snuck into a theater showing this while waiting for RoboCop lol) but he's the only one that I liked. The acting of the other kids were atrocious; especially from Sami Gayle, a favorite from the Blue Bloods TV show.
Damn I knew it would be bad acting!! Still yet to see it but will next week. I even bought the comic books of this series I love it so much!
Oooh there's comics? I must have it! XDYeah, the Rose actress did what she could but it looked like she was the only one making the effort therefore, it looked over the top. They're all pretty to look at but the girl playing Mia Rinaldi (Sami Gayle) was especially painful.
So... Finally saw the movie tonight!Have you ever watched a movie and it's been so bad that it was actual good? I was laughing so much I think I was pissing off all others in the cinema. I agree with you Cate that the actress playing Rose was the only one trying! She reminded me of that girl from Two Broke Girls and Thor (will have to look up her name). I imagined Dimitri so much hotter tho some scenes he was ok... (Not the one where he was in his underwear unfortunately). At least he had the accent. So many differences I won't start.
Over all tho it was a good laugh. If u see the movie don't judge the books by it. For me I think just by watching the movie I will be re-reading the whole series very soon :D
The Mia actress was so bad, it's embarrassing. I think you're talking about Kat Dennings? Yeah, I can see the resemblance.
I haven't seen the movie yet, but from what I've seen in the trailer it looks like a parody :( is the movie only the first book?
Just the first and if u like the books don't expect it to be the same at all. I was laughing all the way through it. So for me it was a good laugh but I was really disappointed in it :(
Am I the only one that is terrified to watch this movie? After seeing the trailer I have avoided it like the plague... This was my favourite series throughout my early teens and I don't want to deface the disappointment. Is it more comedy than drama? Oh god I can't deal with this!
Haha same here! I don't want to watch it just I case it is awful! I don't want it to ruin the series for me!
I know right?? The trailer actually horrified me a little bit! It's definitely not something that should've had that parody kind of feel to it because it's quite a serious series. That sounded weird haha. I don't know I just don't think it will suit 'comedy'... If that's what they want to call it!

Your would think for being a teen movie they would add some eye candy in there. The only actress I likes was the one who played Rose. I think she did a good job conveying her character. Besides the characters, the movie went by really fast. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as when I was reading the book. With that being said, they did follow the book well. It was worth the watch for me bc im obsessed with books to movie but it wasn't anything special.
I'm reading the third book right now, and I really like them, but I didn't like the movie so much. It was alright, but I thought they changed to much and made everything happen so fast - like when Rose told Lissa and Natalie about her love for Dimitri, like it was no biggie, but in the book it's a big secret and the fact that Rose and Lissa met strigos at the beginning of the movie.
How disappointing was the actor playing Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky)! broke my heart, even tho they did try as he is Russian! I'm not saying he is ugly or anything but not how I pictured Dimitri at all!Kristin - I agree with you about Zoey Deutch playing Rose. She was the only redeeming aspect about the movie.
the Stragoi were just laughable, the drama was overdone to the point where I thought it more like a day time television series. What was the script writer thinking!!! the Director, Mark Waters, has made it too much like 'Mean Girls'. I just couldn't watch the parts with Queen Titiana.
All in all total let down. Even tho from the preview I knew it wasn't going to be the best I was still disappointed. Sorry to those who liked it if my words seem over harsh.
Has anyone read the spin off 'Bloodlines'??? Do you like them?I love them and think they are even better than Vampire Academy! so if you haven't look them up!!
Kristin wrote: "Kyara wrote: "Am I the only one that is terrified to watch this movie? After seeing the trailer I have avoided it like the plague... Yes I do agree though none of them are how I pictured them!? Injustice. It just was not right, that is not how it was supposed to be.
Is it even worth me watching it? Please be honest haha.
No I haven't read Bloodlines! I was going to but both my friend and I were worried that they would also ruin vampire academy for us (being out favourite books) but at some point I would definitely like to give them a read! Wow really? That's strange, usually spin-offs are always horrible! That just makes me want to read them more. Was Adrian in the novels? I absolutely loved him in VA and someone told me they think he is in Bloodlines, now that would definitely make me read them haha.
OMG yes Adrian is in the novels! haha one of the main characters in fact. I loved him in VA too so was really glad we got to really get to know him in Bloodlines. You must read them for sure!If you haven't watched VA I would say you are not missing out on anything! but if you do watch you will groan and role your eyes. most of the time I laughed (it was that or cry haha).
OH MY I MUST READ THESE BOOKS IMMEDIATELY! Hahah maybe one day when I'm in the right mood to deal with disappointment appropriately, I will watch it.
The movie was terrible! But I was really confused at the end. Did they skip the second book and jump right to the third or something? And if they did, what will happen to Adrian?
I read only the first two books in this series, then grew bored. I passed them on to my sister, who actually enjoyed them quite a bit.
