message 1: by Andrea (new)

Andrea I think it taught me a lot about life itself despite it being a fantasy book that I WISH I could relate to at times (all that Shadowhunters and demons and everything), but sadly, I can't.

One thing it definitely taught me was family love. Often, the older we get, the more we drift away from our family. But in the Mortal Instruments (Clary and Jocelyn, Alec and Isabelle, Luke and Amatis, etc.) and Infernal Devices (Tessa and Nate, Gideon and Gabriel, etc.), it showed me that despite what you think of family, they still are family and they still are very important.

Well, I can't think of anything else at the moment, so when that block goes away, I'll write something else!

Alexsandralee Medina (doublea111814) | 62 comments Omg, it gave me a lesson don't trust people so quick, mostly. Cassandra Clare's books gave me my own world with everything in that book. Demons, Shadowhunters, Magic, and etc.. I love her books....

message 5: by chinami (new)

chinami nothing actually. this book did not teach me anything useful, at least not something i did not already know. just a teen book.

Nina | 27 comments "Words have the power to change us". I knew that, but it's very beautifully illustrated here. Also, the various different kinds of love you can have for different people, that don't have to negate each other.

And yes, ducks are evil. Don't trust them.

Eri (musicspeaksforemotionsunsaid) | 123 comments It taught me about unnecessary acts of love as well as The most painful is the Rune to fix a broken heart. So true xc

message 11: by Ria (new)

Ria | 55 comments I haven't read all the TID books but there's this quote in one of them.

"You endure what is unbearable, and you bear it. That is all"

Aishah (halnix) | 112 comments Love that quote. It's kinda like my own motto of "no pain no gain."

message 15: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Carstairs (sarahcarstairs) | 80 comments It taught me the different layers to people. You can pretend that you know someone really well but in the end there are always parts hidden from you. The last book especially taught me about values and what is important and what you have to do for the things and people that you love. Also self sacrifice Both James and Will do it all the time. "Loving someone is when you are able to put someone elses happiness ahead of your own" This book has been able to become such a huge part of my life. Thank you Casandra Clare!

Everytime I come across that quote on Goodreads, I move my cursor to like it, only to remember that I have already done so!

Not even how to write? Well, if you're a writer, that is.

priya (gpriyaa) This might sound dumb but it taught me to believe, and that there is more to the world than we think.

message 25: by Itxamara (new)

Itxamara | 779 comments It taught me that even through the worse, love should remain intact if it's true love (like Simon at the end of CoHF, Jace after getting possessed by Sebastian, Jocelyn crying for her after all his poisoned self did, the way Isabelle had patience with Simon, Magnus and Alec, etc...), also it taught me that it doesn't matter how much time you have in this life, but how you chose to live it. The most important thing is that you will always get hurt by this uneasy life but it's always by your own will if you decide to let those wounds heal for you to try again :).
