Plus, it's the first day of school, Kelsey's a complete stranger to them and she takes the bus, and it's unlikely they would know where she lives. Just saying.

I'm going to share my thoughts about the first few chapters and hopefully not spoil anything in the process.
I really enjoyed how the prologue brought us back to Kelsey's story from Joshua's Island. It was a great reminder of who she is and what role she played in the first book, but it's the perfect amount of information to make this book a stand alone if you've not read Joshua's island.
The first chapter did't grab me right away, but I was excited to see the familiar faces of Eve's little sisters.
The introduction of Ethan in the second chapter is really where the story grabbed my attention and I found myself wondering what his secret really is.
I'm up to chapter 12 now and I've got some new favorite characters! Hope to read further tonight.

Chapter 11: (view spoiler)[ So far, I enjoyed Joshua's Island more, but I'm hoping to be able to enjoy this book just as much. I feel like the secret Bree is hiding is that she's either asexual or gay but doesn't know how to tell anyone or deal with it herself. I'm just taking a guess based on how she distances herself when her friends are talking about boys and how she said she doesn't need boys. What happened to Ethan's mom and why is Ethan concerned about Kelsey's father being an officer? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 18: (view spoiler)[ So I'm beginning to think that Bree is into Kelsey and is sad because Kelsey is so into Ethan. Maybe she was bullied because she liked girls rather than boys? Maybe I'm just looking into this too much. I don't like the idea of April having a boyfriend in high school. I've always held the opinion that sure, you can have a partner a bit older, but I've never liked a relationship between someone in elementary/high school or high school/college. It just has me thinking, if they're so great why can't they get a boyfriend or girlfriend their own age? I feel like April's boyfriend is going to end up really hurting her later.

(I didn't mean any offense to anyone dating someone older or younger, I just don't think that relationships between levels of schooling (? What I mean is elementary, high school and college/uni) work out that well) (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 24: (view spoiler)[ Okay, so I THINK I understand what's going on here. Ethan's last name isn't really Zimmer, it's Campbell, right? That would explain him always reciting in his head that his name is Ethan Zimmer, and his dad mentioning something about their "cover." Ethan's dad is probably a witness for the trial. I definitely saw something like what happened to April coming. Nothing good comes out of a high schooler dating someone in middle school. He even referred to her as "the bimbo." Ridiculous.
