I read a book in the 70's where there was a plague which caused keloid scars to form on peoples faces and there was almost a kind of mad max theme to it where there where good guys and bad guys. The chief bad guy was a young man who wore glasses. In the end the scar covered everyones face and the surprise at the end is that the scar fell off and it revealed perfect faces for the good guys and turned the bad guys faces into mosnters.
