One thing I found culturally interesting in this section of the book is that in Kala, to 'bless a house' one thing you can do is that when drinking, the first 4 gulps must be downed in procession without a 'feel tap' in between. So basically, take four shots in a row to keep the house blessed. Yet another item is that upon the day of a marriage, an outsider from the village, who however has a distant relation to the village on his mothers side must come to sacrifice a ram.

Medza is still being paraded around the town at little get-together's where he shares his experiences. He hadn't seen Edima in forever, but when the chief's newest wife comes to town, he fakes being sick to go home with Zambo. Zambo brought Edima along, and the two proceeded to make love under the guise of his illness. The problem now faced is that Medza got caught with Edima by her mother. And it is believed that the mother caught them on purpose, to later suggest a marriage. So Medza ponders the practicality of said events. I personally believe that the mother faked her disgust because Medza is popular in Kala, and is wanted by all native women. So she simply put on a show to help guilt Medza into a marriage.
