"Really?" She said with a scrunched up nose. "I really just wish I could fix my long bow. A birthday present from my folks. Comes from England."
"I can help you with that to,I have a long bow in my old apartment when my parents died......."he walked away.
She walked along beside him. "I'm so sorry."
She slipped her free arm around his waist and gave him a side hug before inspecting her prized weapon lovingly.
"let me go"He said moving her arm.He took off running. He lost her quickly. He just wanted to be alone.
She sighed and changed course. Ariadne walked into the woods in search of a certain plant to fix her bow with.
Danny sat under a tree he didn't confront his problems he ran away from them...that's why he escaped to this island he didn't get trapped here he's been here for longer then everyone else.
Ariadne found the plant she was after. It would replace her lost string easily enough and she set to work on it.
She finished repairing her bow and ran happily to get her quiver full of arrows. Ariadne grabbed them and went in search of Danny eagerly.
"Danny." She shook him awake eagerly when she found him.
"I know. I love you to. Wake up!"
"I fixed it! Come, I want to show you."
"Yay! Come. There's a flock of birds not far from my hut." She seemed really excited. Even before her training she loved archery.
She grabbed her quiver, which was filled with about a dozen arrows and ran a small way past her hut. The area was filled with small birds. "Ready?"
"Throw a stone at them." She said as she drew back an arrow.
The birds all took flight and she released first one, then another arrow continually until only one remained. She aimed for a bird some distance away and let it fly. It hit the bird square in the back. She didn't miss a shot. "Yes! I still have it." Ariadne smiled to herself, looking at the fallen creatures.
"Did somebody say dinner" Danny said as he ran to pick up the Fallen Birds. He at least gave her a small glance showing how impressed he was.
She frowned as she saw one of the closer birds. "Damn, I missed the neck. I only got it in the breast."
Ariadne gave him a small smile, but then went straight to checking her bow. "Oh! I tied the ends off differently. The string isn't straight." She quickly fixed it and went to help pick up the birds.
She followed him and put her bow on her bed. Moving next to him, she started removing the feathers from the birds and threw them in a pile.
"I can try. It may take a while, wood shop wasn't my best class." She gave him a small smile back.
"I'll do it" he said coldly. He helped her take the feathers out when they were done with the birds he took the feathers out back.
"What the hell? It was a joke." She followed him with a mixture of hurt and anger. "Of course I can make some. In the meantime, use the ones I have."
She frowned and went to her tent. Returning, she carried a large bundle of arrows. "It was supposed to be a surprise. I know you have been working on your bow and I was making you some arrows. Here." Ariadne dumped them beside him and went back into her tent.
He frowned and went inside the tent..."Look I'm sorry your gift is awesome and I'm a jerk...I know this, sorry"he said hugging her.
"Gift? Dude, I wasn't born with it. It took me years to do that." She hugged him back, still slightly upset. "Why'd you get angry?"
"It's alright. Just forget it." She gave him a smile, though it was forced. "I'll go get some fruit while you cook the birds." Ariadne left the hut to go to a fruit grove nearby.
"Alright then." She lead him to a large grove of tropical fruit trees. "I hope you like climbing."
"Good." She smiled and removed a rope from around her waist. Sitting at the bottom of a tree, she tied it around both her ankels and started climbing up the trunk easily.
Reaching the top, she untied the rope and used it to latch together bundles of bananas, then lowered them down to the ground so as not to bruise them. Once they hit the ground, she pushed off the tree and landed on the ground in a forward roll. Standing, she smiled. "Need anything else, do you think?"
"If you can find some, we'll get some." She replied smiling.
