The book ended with the different characters all coming together and realising that they are going to be looking after the universe.

At the start of the book, they are all scattered around
One is on some sort of holiday planet with his girlfriend. Its a very hot planet.

One of the characters is in a space station being interviewed by a journalist. She promises everything is off the record, but he realises she had a camera in her eye. He removes her eye, I don't remember if he also killed her.

Heya, thanks for the reply. It was at least 10 years ago, but I'm afraid I don't remember anything about the cover really. Maybe a space-style scene? Not very helpful for the scifi genre, I know!

As far as I know, it was a stand alone book. It definitely finished, there was no cliffhanger.
