(view spoiler)[ This story is moving SO FAST! I've been reading so many character and world driven books lately so it came as a shock when the plot started getting juicy so quickly! The character of Aaron seems so mysterious to me and I wonder who he is, also the Spackles. (view spoiler)[ I think we've all fantasized about being able to talk to animals, but this book is destroying that fantasy. His dog is super irritating!

It's interesting that this supposed germ killed most of the men, and half the women. Wonder what that means for their society. (hide spoiler)]

Across The Bridge

(view spoiler)[ It’s really weird that the mayor refuses to let them go, like allowing one boy to escape could challenge their entire existence. This other settlement is also an enigma because we are assuming it’s different from where he came from, but we’re not completely sure. It’s also weird that Viola can speak, but refuses to. Then you have her being able to hear the noise, but not broadcasting it. Wonder if his town killed all the omen because of that fact.

Does the way this is told bother you to? I hate the uns added at the end of the words, like “conversashun”. It just doesn’t read well. Also not a fan of the way our main character talks, some of it reads like a text conversation, with tho and I. The animals ares still really annoying, but I did like the cassor. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I really hate characters who refuse to admit their weaknesses, so Todd is driving me crazy right now. He should be asking for help learning to read, or at least trying to puzzle out the words in the book. He was given that for a reason, so chances are it’s important. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I'm so tired of this Aaron dude, he literally got eaten by crocodiles, and is still chasing them. Todd should've killed him when he had the chance, now he's back, for like the fifth time. (hide spoiler)]

What's the point?

(view spoiler)[ I'm not sure if that reveal about the men killing all the women was supposed to be surprising, but I had seen it coming. It also doesn't make sense that the other civilizations would just let the, kill every woman without doing anything, and then punish every man from that settlement. It just feels like something else is going on there.

I'm really not a fan of how this is told, it's been really hard for me to get into. I don't like learning along with our character, because he's a bit of an idiot, and people don't tell him anything. Part of the fun in a book is making guesses, and it's hard to do when you don't know any info,. (hide spoiler)]
