Welcome to T5W! (Rules/Guidelines - updated 2015)

Hey everyone! If you don't know, my name is Lainey over on Youtube as (Gingerreadslainey) and I created Top 5 Wednesday. It sounds weird to me to say I "created" it because I feel like Top 5 Wednesday has developed into this crazy awesome collaborative group that brings all kinds of book reviewers across any type of platform to share a great love for lists every Wednesday. I started this way back at the end of 2013 and it has grown so much over the past two years, I am constantly amazed by how many people participate and have joined this group. I feel like I haven't updated the "rules" so to speak so here is a list of guidelines you should follow!

1. T5W is open for ANY type of book reviewer (youtube, blogs, instagram, tumblr, etc.)

2. The official hashtag for Top 5 Wednesday is: #T5W, but other alternates is definitely fine.

3. When uploading your video/updating your blog etc, if you can, it would be super helpful if you linked this Goodread's group. That way potential T5W-ers will be able to find the group easily if they are interested in joining!

4. It is OK to skip a week if you can't think of any or don't like the topic. I always get questions about people not knowing what to do because a topic is difficult. Just skip it and join in the following week :)

5. Speaking of topics, and while I really don't have control over this, but really try not to twist the topic to your own liking. I just say this because in the past I've seen some topics changed to the poster's liking only to see that "twisted" topic end up being a topic in the following months. I'm just looking out for you all!

6. Topics for the following month are posted the last Wednesday of the current month.

I am new to the group and to booktube. I missed the 9/7 date to post about characters I want in my family. I would really like to put mine out there, but don't want to mess things up. I looked through the rules and couldn't find the answer to my question. Can I still post that this month or since I missed the exact date should I just skip it? Also, can I post videos on any of the topics from previous months or if you didn't post on the intended day it is just locked down after that? Sorry if these questions have already been asked I am just really excited to get started!

Hi, I've been apart of the group for a while, but never joined in.

I had a question. I see that y'all list all the past T5W on here. I wanted to know If I'm allowed to use them? And if so how would you like me to Tag/Link the group? Since it won't be the current week and month would you like it tagged/linked differently? Or for me to make a (warning) side note that it isn't the current T5W? I could even put the current T5W in my description bar with a link if you'd like?

Also I was hoping to use T5W for not just books, but Manga and Graphic Novels as well. I was wondering if you would be okay with that?

Question, since it was raised on one of my latest videos.

I've tried to always be very open that I'm doing this as a part of the T5W crew, though I post my videos on Thursday. Hence, I've called them Top 5 Thursday posts. I do always link to this group on every video, however.

Someone brought up that this might come across as offensive to the group, and show disrespect for the over-arcing name and group. That's certainly never been my intent, and I'm willing to shift things around if need be. But I'd like to hear from you all. Am I being rude?

It's encouraged to not respond to past topics, because it can get confusing. Topics will come around again, so don't worry if you missed one!

I don't think it's rude, but maybe for the sake of being clear you can still call it Top 5 Wednesday instead of Top 5 Thursday. That way, if people are searching for Top 5 Wednesday, your videos still pop up and you are easy to find as part of the T5W family :)
