I've only read a few of his so far, but that is exactly how I feel about his writing--it really is powerful and takes you away, mentally. I can't wait to get to some other titles!

Kimberly, that is a bang on description!

I'm glad someone else feels the same! There are quite a few of his I have listed as "to reads" or on wish lists. :)

Nate (the_enobee) | 147 comments I was also swept away by this story. I was completely engrossed and I'm looking forward to reading more of Piccirilli's work.

Depending on the topic, might be good to recommend one of the ones that wasn't chosen this time around.

Nate (the_enobee) | 147 comments Good call, Kimberly. The other nominees are below. Looks like a good place to start! I love finding authors that are not only awesome but also prolific.

Headstone City
The Dead Letters
November Mourns
The Night Class
The Last Kind Words
The Walls of the Castle

I was wondering the same thing.

Walter Spence (walterspence) | 573 comments I'm a bit past the halfway mark, but really enjoying this novel. My first by this author, but won't be my last. It reads as though William Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor got it on in the bed of a beater pickup truck and produced this gem as a result. Love the prose style and how each scene is its own little vignette.

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it, Walter. I never did get to read this one, but I still have it sitting on my Kindle.
