I finally finished this book. I liked it to start with but by the time I got to the end, I was skipping paragraphs just to make it end.
I'm 48 pages in and can't seem to get into it. So many people I respect on HA have loved this book that I'm plugging through. I also paid a small fortune to get this in Canada (about $35 with shipping for a trade paperback) so I definitely need to give it a full go. But damn, it's proving hard...
I'm about to start part two, and I'm really wondering where this story is going now that (view spoiler)

There were SO. MANY. THINGS. that I loved about this book, but then, so many things I didn't like. I was not invested in even half of the characters, (view spoiler), and the dialogue was clunky... This would make an amazing movie though, right? With old-fashioned practical effects, not any of the crappy CGI bullshit... I can dream, can't I?
