I thought I'd join you with this! It's a book I've always wanted to read. And it seems a bit sad: a bookclub with no other members ;)! I hope others will join as well! At the moment I'm still reading something els (Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell), but I'll let you know when I've started this one!

Would it be alright if we started a new thread where we can talk about books we are reading so that we can see what other people are enjoying?

Hi Christina!
Great that you've joined this groop.
Sounds like a good idea to me. I hope we'll have fun together, talking about books etc.
Hi everyone! Wow , I never thought that there'll be so many other members so fast! Thank you all for joining!
And I agree with Christina, it is really a good idea :)

I started reading, yesterday. You are right, it is a really nice book! At first I found it a bit too many summing-ups. But now, in India, it is finally getting more exiting. I already know the story, because I've seen the movie. But that was a long time ago. And the book is never the same.

I'm glad you enjoy it :D I didn't know the story before I started reading it, so I'm really excited to find out what happens next.
In fact , i am reading it right now in another tab of my browser :D
Anyway, I understand why it's famous

I'm on page 91 :)
I'm on page 91 :)

While I was reading this, my children were watching tv. To my surprise it was Mickey Mouse's 'Around the world in 80 days'! Different, but in lots of aspects very the same! Mickey Mouse was the owner of an orphanage. Goofy was his employee. Mickey got an inheritance, but to get it, he had to travel around the earth in 80 days. After that you see a steam train riding across Europe, followed by a boat etc. Some of the adventures were also in it. Of course with Minnie Mouse.
So I could tell my children that that was the story I was reading at the moment!
i watched the micky mouse version a few years ago and i agree :) it's very similar and still so different :D
Anyway : everyone who wants to read this but doesn't want to buy it , here's the link : http://www.online-literature.com/vern...
and you can get it for free at iTunes or in iBooks
