Rambo919 | 8 comments The city it is based in is based on Venice (lot's of canals). The slaves can be customized to the new owner's needs (for sex, work, living fixtures etc) A certain group tries to clone the books version of Jesus, he is referred to as "Christos". The slave clones rebel I think, that's where things get fuzzy.

When did you read this? What was the genre? How did you find it (recommendation, blurb, review)? Where did you find it--library, book store, grocers?

Rambo919 | 8 comments Doubt it, read it decades ago, found it in a local library. Sci-fi story, only really remember a quote from the end "Men made you for pleasure but God made you an artist"

In His Image (1997) by James BeauSeigneur? Looks too recent. Around what year did you read this book?

Just in case you're interested - Crown of Thorns by Ian C.P. Irvine.
