Abcdarian | 26579 comments When I try to add the date of death to this author, there is no space for it on the Editing Author page. What to do?

Obituary: http://www.tributes.com/obituary/read...

Edited to add: Found another one https://www.goodreads.com/author/edit... Is it just me?

Abcdarian | 26579 comments Decided "Bugs" over in the Feedback group might be a better place for this.

Abcdarian | 26579 comments In case anyone else wants to know, apparently author profiles that have ever been claimed don't have a space for death date. (Which causes me to ponder ...)

Empress (the_empress) I usually email staff and they remove the GR author status and then add the date. As claimed profiles are for live authors it does make sense not to have died date.

Were they claimed at the time you were trying to change them? I was on the phone previously and did not follow any links. I just assumed so because I am aware that there is not died date for GR authors and thought you were a Super.

Those profiles are no longer GR profiles.

I wonder if a workaround would be to create a new author profile and merge?

Since that would lose blog posts and other data, it's not a good idea. It also probably wouldn't work, since the claimed marker would likely transfer over with the merge.

I suspected there was a reason for not doing it.

No, that was the strange thing; they must have been claimed at some point in the past, but not when I found them.

Oh, and I'm definitely not a super. :-D

Regardless, only staff can edit claimed profiles.
