Mary Pat | 2186 comments I am not very far into the book yet but it is making me chuckle! It is a nice change from some of the serious reading I have been doing and, having turned 60 this year, I am feeling sympathy for Allan! :)

Ariel (lamot_amant) | 728 comments It is very chuckle-worthy and a bit silly which I like. I wanted to come on here after having read chapters 1-7 but it's been a good waiting room book and I've just kept picking it up.

I do think there are interesting points that Jonasson uses to keep you hooked. Like the main character being a centenarian, obvs. I kinda figured this was going to follow along the same lines of The Bucket List movie with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. So I find it a lot more interesting that it's more random and it really is more of an escape for Allan. Albeit a shuffling in pee slippers one.

Plus, it def keeps you guessing about Allan as a character when he rolls the suitcase off behind him lol.

I was kind of puzzled about the deal between Allan's mom and dad- I would assume that a woman that was protesting for women's rights would be more simpatico with the advocacy of contraceptives. I guess it was the embarrassment of it being her husband as well as him being fined? I felt like I was missing something. It made more sense later on about a rift in their relationship over his getting fired/leaving (to me).

I couldn't help it, Julius and Allan forgetting about the freezer and the entire escapade that follows had me laughing.

Cynthia (cynthiabeaudry) | 157 comments I wanted to come here after chapter 7 but I was so hooked that I remembered at chapter 9!

Up to now I've had many smiles and some laughs while reading that book. I love all the caracters and find Allan to be quite impulsive which makes me wonder what's going to happen next...

I do like the fact that Jonasson often reminds us that Allan is a very old man 'cause I would forget.

Can't wait to see what's next :)

Jenn This is definitely a unique book. I haven't read anything like it before or anything set in Sweden. The dialogue is a little hard to follow without the use of quotation marks, but overall I am enjoying the random adventure so far. There's no way to predict what will happen next, which I like. I also enjoy the overall goofiness of the story.

Karen Mockoviak | 274 comments I've had a good amount of chuckles in these first few chapters! The characters are great and you never know what is going to happen next which I love. This is a great book to read after the crime drama ones I've been reading.

Jenn, if you're looking for books set in Sweden, you can have a look at the Millenium trilogy by Stieg Larsson or at those from Camilla Läckberg
