I recently finished Brazen. It's a young adult novel about Mary Howard, who was married to Henry VIII's bastard son, Henry FitzRoy.

I have just read "The Duchess of Kent: The Troubled Life if Katharine Worsley" by Mary Riddell. This book was published in 1999 but I was able to find a used book in very good condition. It was very well written, with very good analysis in what was, in my opinion, a difficult life for the Duchess.

I've begun reading "The King's Grace" by Anne Easter Smith. I'm not very far into it, I'm afraid, but so far it's very interesting as it's dealing with the Princes in the Tower. I highly recommend anything she writes.

Cindy, I've only read two out of three of the books in Katherine Longshore's series. I read "Gilt" (which is about Katherine Howard), in addition to Brazen. I'd highly recommend both, even if you don't usually like young adult novels. Both are very well written and highly engrossing.

I am reading "An Uncommon Woman: Empress Frederick" by Hannah Pakula. This is the second book about the life of the Empress that I am reading: this one being more in depth. I think it is beautifully written and is quite an easy read. Read 200 of the 700 pages thus far.

I am currently reading a biography of Josephine Bonaparte-not really royalty although she was crowned Empress. It is called Ambition and Desire the Dangerous Life of Josephine Bonaparte by Kate Williams.
I also recently bought 17 Carnations- the Royals, the Nazis and the Biggest Cover up in History by Andrew Morton.

I just finished "Queen Alexandra" by Georgina Battiscombe. I read about Queen Alexandra in another book and was mystified by what was said about her. I did some research and came across the book written by Georgina Battiscombe. It has been around a while and therefore, it was purchased as used--former library book but in very good condition.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I came away with what I feel confident was a very accurate picture of the Queen Alexandra, one quite different from what I read about her previously. I highly recommend this book.

I am about to read "Daisy: The Life and Loves of the Countess of Warwick" written by Sushila Anand. Daisy was one of King Edward II mistress: she preceded Mrs. Keppel.

I have also just read "Mrs. Keppel and her Daughter" by Diana Souhami. Mrs. Keppel was the last of King Edward VII mistresses'. This book is a study of her and her daughter Violet who famously was the lover of Vita Sackville West among others.

Just finished Susan Doran's Elizabeth I and Her Circle, which was interesting.

I just finished "After Elizabeth, The Rise of James of Scotland' written by Leanda de Lisle. As much as I love this time period I could not get into this book once the focus was on King James after the death of Elizabeth. It definitely was not as interesting as I would have hoped it to be. The author was meticulous with her research but I found the writing a bit dry and I skimmed through paragraphs just to get through it.

I'm currently reading a biography of Edward III, The Perfect King: The Life of Edward III, Father of the English Nation, by Ian Mortimer. Quite good.

I read this book several years ago after reading Mortimer's "The Greatest Traitor", which I actually thought was better. I find his writing and Richard Barber's difficult because they jump around in time rather than following a direct chronological sequence. And, I found the same timeframe discrepancy in both of their books having do with EIII's Scottish campaign and Edward (Black Prince). I recently ordered a newer biography of EIII by Mark Ormrod. I hope it will be easier to follow and the discrepancy is cleared up.

Currently reading "Love And Louis XIV: The Women In The Life of the Sun King" by Antonia Fraser. Centers on his major mistresses rather than being a biography. Well written and entertaining, as the works of Ms. Fraser usually are.

i'd recommend anything by plaidy -- all her biographical historicals that I've read have been good, and i've read more than 2/3 of them.

I didn't think it was in a series, as it's non-fiction. Though you might want to read her The Wars of the Roses, which is about the period immediately preceding it.

There's Victoria And Her Daughters, which, if memory serves me, has a great ton on Vicky, some on Alice and Beatrice, but not much on Helena or Louise.

I just finished Allan Massie's The Royal Stuarts. Unfortunately, I found it to be a very superficial and rather "sensational" treatment of the Stuart dynasty. That being said, I found his treatment on Charles I is to be quite thorough.
