Joshua Hawks | 14 comments This is super vague but I hope you all can help me. Tom was talking about a book that had something to do with a pantheon of gods (Greek?) and that the chapters grew longer or shorter based on which god it was covering or something like that? Any help would be appreciated! Sorry for being so vague!

terpkristin | 4407 comments Where was Tom talking about it? If it was on the show, they're supposed to put all the books they mention at swordandlaser.com/picks but they may not have. I have no idea what you're talking about but if that doesn't get what you need you might join the "What was the name of the book?????" group.

Bill | 2 comments Heyas all. Back in the 80s I read a book where the main characters traveled the land and crossed paths with famous real life and fictional characters. There may have been juggling involved. That time of my life is a bit of a hazy blur, and I may be thinking of two different books. Any help finding this book would be appreciated. Thanks

For juggling, the only one that comes to mind is Lord Valentine's Castle by Robert Silverberg.

Encountering famous fictional & nonfictional characters -- there are a bunch. The one I thought of first was Silverlock by John Myers Myers. If that's not it, well, can you remember anything else about what was happening in the book?

Phil | 1457 comments Silverlock is the first thing that popped into my head as well but it's been so long since I read it that I don't remember if there's any juggling.

Yeah, there's no juggling in Silverlock (that I remember) and no famous people in Valentine, but I listed them on the off chance that he was actually combining two separate books.

You wouldn't be thinking of Riverworld: To Your Scattered Bodies Go/The Fabulous Riverboat would you???

I liked the first three? four? volumes, but was unhappy near the end when Farmer did one of those "everything I told you before was wrong; here's the actual story" things.

I feel the same. Loved the first 2 but the rest weren't quite as good.

LOL, well, I guess it's a good thing I never progressed past the 2nd book, I didn't experience the disappointment.

I should've handled the Hunger Games and Divergent series the same way...if I just read the first and second books and then called it good, I would've enjoyed them much more.

Bill | 2 comments Thanks all. It seems I was thinking of two separate books. I dug out Lord Valentines Castle and Silverlock. Skimmed through them both, and they are what I was looking for. I now have something to read for a couple days. Thanks again
