A billion or so flavors, none of them quite the same, and a sky to slowly suck on. It takes the edge off the stress. It helps me relax" (Zusak 4). I feel that something traumatic has happened to this character. I think he pays attention to the little things, like colors in the sky, to take the his mind off of the terrible things happening around him. This is his or her way with coping with the things going on around him or her. he or she seeks out the colors to forget about the "survivors", the broken and despaired. I think that this person has to take care of the "survivors" and no one can do the job but this character. As the character says, "The trouble is, who could ever replace me?" ( Zusak 5). The color is his or her only outlet to ignore the the the "left behind". As the story progresses I think the character will go more into depth about the experiences they are enduring.
