Did anyone feel sorry for Cesar? I felt the author was a little harsh on hime

I felt some sympathy for him when he described his school experiences, but none at all for his involvement in scams as an adult.

Kurzweil was tied up to a bed. Whipped by a belt. He was ten. Whipped. Almost 39 times. By a belt. By a twelve year old. With three other boys sneering and witnessing. Tied up by the wrists. To a bed. What shocks me is the lack of empathy. Some reviewers clearly see Kurzweil as a drama queen or crybaby. To me, he was tortured. No matter what Cesar went theough, he had become a pervert, clearly.
