〖Background〗
☽History☾
McKenzie was born into the life of a hunter. She always knew what her family was but she didn't like it. She was trained fiercely ever since she was a child in hand to hand combat, archery, sword fighting, knife throwing, survival and artillery. She hated it all. She excelled in every field but she hated it all. She envied her cousin, Addison, who was blissfully unaware of the life her family led but she just played with the hand she was dealt.
As she got older, more was expected of her. She was supposed to go out on hunts and kill and she hated it. These supernaturals were people too with lives and families and people who loved them. Taking a life was the hardest thing she ever had to do. One life was all she was able to take before she decided that she was getting out.
She ran away from home, using the skills she'd been taught to fend for herself. She lived on her own as a runaway from three years before another hunter family accidentally stumbled across her and brought her back home. Her parents agreed to let her leave the business and gave her her inheritance when she was eighteen and left for good.
She lived by the beach for two years, teaching all year round thanks to the weather.
☽Best Childhood Memory☾
Learning to surf for the first time.
☽Worst Childhood Memory☾
When she had to kill a wolf for the first time.

It depends on who'd we'd be doubling as.
He's awesome.
Is it alright if we don't do doubles?

Kenzie loved life by the beach. It was stress free with her small, remote house, the ocean right outside and the sun beaming down constantly. She was able to surf whenever she wanted, teach other people how to surf to make a bit of money, read, relax and just forget about her family. The family business wasn't something that she wanted to be involved in. She was sick and tired of being taught to injure, maim and kill. When she ran, she intended to stay running but she was caught and brought back. Thankfully, her parents were minutely understanding so she was allowed to leave as soon as she hit eighteen and she hadn't looked back since.
Running a hand through her wet hair, she tried to untangle the knots. She was finished changing when she thought she heard a noise outside. Her hand immediately went to the knife she always kept on her, old habits died hard. Walking out of her room, the knife hidden in her palm of her hand, she scanned the room only to see a bird on her windowsill outside flying away. Chuckling softly at herself, she relaxed.

((Sorry! I hadn't seen that you'd replied.))
Kenzie lay down on the sand, her sunglasses covering her eyes from the beaming sun. She was completely relaxed as she felt herself start to drift off under the heat. She would never get sick of the beach. Even though her family would be horrified for her being so lax on her defense, she really didn't care. She was out of the supernatural world, only concentrating on the ocean, the sand and whatever she wanted to do. Thanks to her long line of ancestors and her notoriously frugal family, Kenzie had gotten enough of an inheritance when she left and since she wasn't living anywhere expensive and wasn't blowing her money on anything, she was able to drift through life and just enjoy that she was out of the game.

As the storm started to come in, Kenzie hopped up from where she was lying and stretched her tired body. That was when she caught sight of a guy out in the water and trying to surf. Kenzie lived a good thrill but that was just stupid. She reached up and quickly tied her hair out of her face before running down the beach and waving her hands, hoping to get the guys attention so he didn't get injured. "Hey! Hey! You gotta come in man!" She shouted as loud as she could, praying that he could hear and and came in before he got hurt.
Kenzie watched, kind of impressed when he started riding the wave and even more impressed when he realised his limit and jumped off. When he washed up on the shore, she jogged over to him and dropped to her knees in the sand. "Hey, you alright man?" she asked him, concern clear in her eyes even though he seemed perfectly fine, the lifeguard in her was worried. "Nice ride by the way," she added with a small smirk.
"I know right," Kenzie agreed, taking his hand and standing up. "I was just out here chillin then there were all these clouds. I hate rain, hate storms," she said with a sigh. The small, cursive 'H' tattoo that she had gotten when she was younger above her hip bone, the tattoo all hunters got when they were young, was on display in her bikini. "You got somewhere to go in this storm? If not you can come to mine while it passes. It's just there," Kenzie offered, pointing to her small cabin a short but away from them on the beach.
Kenzie got slightly suspicious at his answer, it was sort of strange but she was trying to keep her suspicious nature deep down inside of her. It was just another connection to her old life. "Can't do storms. They take away my sun and I love the sun," Kenzie replied, walking with him towards her house. "Yeah it's cool, I don't even know if I'd want you to risk driving. It looks like it's gonna get pretty bad," she said, glancing up at the sky and pushing the door open for him as they reached her home.
"Thanks," Kenzie replied, looking out the window and sighing. "I agree dude. Looks pretty bad. This sucks," she said, shaking her head and turning back around to him. "I'm Kenzie by the way. Of course I invite someone to my house without even it reducing myself. That just makes total sense," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes at herself. Her parents would just be so proud.
Kenzie raised an eyebrow at him, wondering is she understood him correctly. "You almost wish that I was able to save you from drowning?" Kenzie asked, sitting down on a bar stool at her kitchen. "Is that what you mean? Because all I got from that is that you wished that I could have given you CPR but if you want me to kiss you, all you have to do is say it," Kenzie added with a shrug.
"I wouldn't send you home in the rain. Plus I don't really get mad. I have an ex boyfriend that I still keep up with. He cheated on me and he was more angry about it than I was because I wasn't angry at him for it. It's confusing. Anyway," Kenzie told him with a light laugh at the end. "Well than Kai, tell me something about yourself."
Kenzie started to get more suspicious. The vague comment about who he really was, the disconnected backstory with absolutely nothing about him and how he quickly moved onto her. It was sketchy but Kenzie had to keep reminding herself not to judge, not to get suspicious. She was out of that life. "I'm sure there's much more that that but whatever. I moved her two years ago when I had a disagreement with my family. They wanted me to go into the family business but I wanted to have my own life. I ran away when I was younger but I got brought back to them. When I was eighteen, they have me money and told me that I could go wherever I wanted," she told him with a shrug. "I'll be back in a second, I'm just gonna get changed. Make yourself at home," she told him, heading it into her room and putting on her pyjamas, a pie of cotton shorts and a tank top because it was always so hot and she couldn't wear anything more. She couldn't help herself as she strapped a knife to her thigh, hiding it under her loose shorts.
Kenzie was glad she had left, it gave her a chance to see what he'd done while she was gone. Fortunately, everything was in it's place. "So, Kai I-don't-know your-last-name," Kenzie started, taking a seat next to him. "There has to be something more to you. I'm letting you wait out the storm in my house. You owe me something," Kenzie said with a grin, looking at him with curiosity shining in her eyes.
"Ah, we were both street rats," Kenzie said jokingly with a grin, holding her fist out for fist bump. "I was on the run for three years, living on the streets before I got brought back home. It was...an experience," she said, thinking about what word she could use to describe living on the run. She had killed for the second time in her life while she was on the run, a vampire trying to kill her when she accidentally revealed her tattoo. It hadn't been fun most of the time but she had been away from hunters and she loved it.
Kenzie thought seriously about his question, honestly asking herself if she would do that. She loved her life now and she knew that all of her decisions and her family's decisions led up to her having a life that she loved. Shaking her head, she answered him. "No. I don't believe in hurting people, not anymore. I've hurt enough people and my family have hurt enough people. I escaped that and I don't want to go back," she replied honestly.
"I may not agree with them but they're still family. Would you turn against your flesh and blood just because someone you just met decided to ask you about it?" Kenzie asked nonchalantly. In one swift movement, she straddled him with her knee over a sensitive area and her knife against his throat. "Now why don't you tell me who you are because don't think I believe for one second that you're here just socially," Kenzie demanded calmly.
"You've been giving yourself away the whole time. If you had come here for the waves, you would have looked at the sky first. That was just the first thing. Everything since had just been another drop of suspicion," Kenzie answered, pressing the knife closer to his neck till a bit more pressure would draw blood. "So you're here to recruit me to help you kill my family and if that didn't work, you were what? Gonna torture me to get your information?" she asked him.
"I don't kill," Kenzie replied, not easing up the pressure she had on her knife against his throat. "I've killed twice and both times I was forced to. The two worst moment of my life. I. Don't. Kill. I'm just not letting my guard down after you just admitted that you're planning on kidnapping me," Kenzie added, clenching her jaw tightly as she glared at Kai.
Kenzie moved her knife away from his neck, moving off of him and sitting down on the couch facing him instead. She shook her head when he let her search his bag. "I don't kill people but if you go to attack me I'll injure you so bad you'll wish I would kill you. Now talk," Kenzie told him, her muscles tensed but her body relaxed as she waited patiently.
Kenzie listened to Kai's reasoning, her nose scrunching slightly in distaste at her family's actions. She had never agreed with their methods but the last she'd seen them, they'd only been hunting in the cities around them. They'd really stepped up their game. "And how am I supposed to help? I haven't seen my family in over two years," Kenzie asked him, her eyes unusually hard as they scanned over him.
"I spotted you and I've been out of training for years," Kenzie added, leaning forward with her forearms in her knees though she was ready to strike at any moment of necessary. "You say that you try to reform them, show them that you're not all monsters. But you said you kill the difficult ones. I'm not getting involved in anything that condones killing, especially not my family. I don't agree with them but they're still blood," Kenzie told him, leaning back into the couch once she'd finished.
"And would it be better if they were keeping you in cages, away from the rest of the world instead of being killed. It's better but you're still killing them, it's just slower," Kenzie replied, standing up but not turning her back on Kai. "I appreciate the offer but the storms still bad outside and I can't hurt you if we're in public," Kenzie replied with a shrug.
Kenzie laughed, relaxing against the seat or at least seeming to. She couldn't let herself relax after finding out about him. "Please, I could take you down any day. I trained my whole life for it. I didn't know you could make the storm stop though," she replied, happily admitting that she didn't know.
Kenzie scoffed, rolling her eyes at him. When he asked if she minded, she waved her hand dismissively showing that she didn't. Then his wings popped out and she jumped into a crouch on the seat she had been sitting on with wide eyes. "What the hell?!" She exclaimed, clutching the knife in her hand tightly, her knuckles white as she did.

((Sorry, I'm away at the moment and my internet is so spotty so only some notifications are coming through and I don't get them all. And it's fine, we can just continue here. I'm just sorry for being so spotty.))
"Honestly? I know a lot and back when I was part of it, I was a prodigy but they seemed to have moved on a lot since I left. Never hunter dragons before, I only ever learned the basics because most hunters considered them extinct or just only in other countries. I didn't even know there were storm dragons and stuff," Kenzie replied honestly, slowly lowering herself back down so she was sitting on the seat instead of crouching on it.

Kenzie frowned at he told his story, her heart aching for that little girl. She was kind of suspicious that there was no little girl and it was all just a story to earn her sympathy but it seemed like a pretty legit reason for them to start hunting the hunters. "I'm still not helping you kill my family but I see why you're doing it," Kenzie replied with a nod.
"Oh I know the Smiths," Kenzie said with a grimace as well. "When I was younger I was engaged to one of their boys. And by younger I mean like six. When I ran away the arrangement was broke off," Kenzie told him with a nod to herself. She had almost forgotten about the Smiths and that stupid arranged marriage.
"No it wasn't Zack, it was Nick, the middle one," Kenzie said, her eyes looking up at the ceiling as she tried to remember his name. "I wouldn't mind killing Zack either. The guys a creep. Made a move on me when I was younger, must have been only twelve and he was sixteen. He's disgusting," she agreed, her nose scrunching a bit in distaste.
"Yeah but their little girl is the worst. She'd be like eight now and last I heard she was still killing the kids with their own toys. The family is completely sadistic," Kenzie said with a shudder. She laughed with him when he said that. "Well sure, I could tell you most of what you want to know about all the families," she said with a shrug and then thought about it. "Not what I meant. I'm not agreeing to it or at least not just yet."

Kenzie shook her head, wondering why he thought going to dinner with more dragons was better than just one. "The only reason I didn't want to go with you is because your a dragon that wants to get rid of hunters. I'm not going to dinner with more dragons that want to get rid of hunters but I'll take that dinner with you if it's still open. But the Simth's. That seems like a pretty good place to start," she replied with a shrug.
Kenzie nodded, pointing down the hall. "The bathroom's just there. The middle door," she told him, her eyes snapping to the window when the storm stopped. She couldn't believe that he had just done that. "That's weird, cool and scary all at the same time but it's mostly awesome."
