Does a highly publicized controversy over a book make you more or less likely to read it?

Depends on the topic. If it's more pop-culture, like the whole "Shades of Grey" phenomena, then no...not interested. If there is an historical or non-fiction spin, like "Unbroken", then yes, I'm much more likely to read it. Although, I did get sucked into the "A Million Little Pieces" by James Frey drama because of all the publicity.
I admit a controversy makes me less likely to read something. But I may come back to it after the fuss has died down.
