Travis Fischer | 5 comments Does GoodReads pull book information from any Amazon APIs? I'm working on a GoodReads app for a mobile device and I want to guarantee I'm not going to run afoul of Amazon's terms of service (specifically 4e of http://bit.ly/176Ulw).

Wil Shipley of Delicious Monster just had to pull a mobile client for his Delicious Library product, not because the mobile app itself uses the Amazon APIs, but because the desktop client that syncs with the mobile app does (http://bit.ly/10Mimk). So, broadly read any mobile application that reads data from a source that access(ed) Amazon's APIs is verboten by Amazon's TOS. I'm following GoodRead's TOS, but if they are pulling data from Amazon, then I'm going to have trouble.

Thanks in advance.

Otis Chandler | 18 comments Travis: most of our data is from Amazon, and we are also forbidden from building any client side mobile app that caches Amazon data. We are working on solutions to this (both with Amazon and without) and hope to have said solution in the next month or so. We don't give out Amazon book images in our API for that reason - so I don't think you can go afoul by just using our API.
