Ruby looked at Raven she didn't answer her. "I didn't know who it was like I said I didn't think any of three people I mention were stupid enough to attacked me, but I guess I was wrong." Ruby paused for a moment. "I was walking away from the falls just as the he attacked me. He would have killed me. I pushed fire against him in hopes that he would back away, but he charged at me. He knew the falls were there and so did I used it to my advantage."

There was a whole pack of wolves on her territory. Will didn't know where it ended she never told him or Grace. The only people who knew where her territory was her people. "Tell your pack to get off my territory. The wolves territory don't start for another two cities over then you hit in wolf territory. I'm guessing that's the pack Grace and Derek and Grace came from. I'm guessing that they can't settle there. I don't mind wolves staying in town. I accepted Grace and Will, but a whole pack of them is unexpectable." Ruby looked at her she didn't mean to hurt anybody.

Damon always had a way of getting back at her. Ruby's faced paled ghostly. "He's alive he did this Nick. That's why Derek attacked me. We have to get to the council meeting now. Raven please please take Avery with you." Ruby looked at her. "We need to get to the council before he does." Her heart was racing because her worse nightmare was coming true.

Eva frowned quickly as she noticed a change. She knew what had happened. "Grace, I'm sorry Derek isn't going to wake up. His wolf is very much alive as it can handle a lot. But his human part the part that causes him to shift back and forth is dead. When he wakes up we will just have a plain old wolf."

Will looked at the bones. "I need to find out who this was." Will snapped looking at everyone. "Now." He glared at everyone. He had a feeling whoever these bones belong to were important.

"I can tell you one thing these bones are a humans." The tracker said. "Vampires have cracks in them"

"Who did what?" Even Raven didn't know for sure were Ruby's territory started and ended. Although she had heard of the pack a few towns over, and knew that they couldn't go there. Seeing as it was as she suspected the pack that Grace, Will, and Derek came from. So that was one reason why they had built the house where they had. It had been safe. No threat. Or so they had all thought at least.


Grace cried quietly. Looking up at Eva when she said that he wasn't coming back... that the human part of him was dead, and only his wolf was still alive. No. This couldn't be happening. Derek was her big brother..... he couldn't just die. Biting back any sound she could make as she rested her head back on the table. It wasn't fair. He had so much to live for, so much to do still. Getting herself under control enough to ask "Isn't there just a small chance that he could come back from this, somehow?" She didn't think so, sense Eva was one of the best in the field but she still had to know.

Ruby looked at Nick she was confused. Damon was dead and he wasn't coming back. Her face pale she eyed her bandaged shoulder. It was bleeding through the bandage. She closed her eyes and hissed. Something was wrong, but something was preventing her from focusing long enough. "Hunters use wereolves some time,by giving them some.............." Ruby collapsed and hit the floor or maybe it wasn't the hunters. "Nick baby, is my pretty dress ruined?" Her voice a little derlious. Maybe it was some riot of passage for being an Elder. Maybe the posioned made her face her biggest fears. The possibilities were endless, but all she knew was the Derek was in contact with some poision that which is how she got it.

Will heard Eva he quickly called Raven. "Raven uh well Derek's wolf is the only part of him that is alive." He whispered softly.

Eva nodded her no. "Sweetie he's not coming back. I'm sorry I tried, but he's not coming back. I wish I could make him better. Raven's going to find who did this and make them pay." She whispered.

Nick picked her up, carrying her inside back to the living room and laying her down. "Try to relax, I'm going to check your cut.... " He told her peeling the shoulder of the dress back carefully so not to rip it. Then pulling the bandage back, seeing that it had come open again. "Raven run and get the first aid kit, it's in our bathroom in the cabent above the sink." He told her hearing her run up the stairs to get it. "It'll be okay--" He said trying to help as he looked at it for the first real time. It looked horrible. Really bad. Maybe they should wait to call that meeting...


Raven had run up the stairs and had been digging around looking for the first aid kit. When her phone rang pulling it out and saw that it was Will calling. He must of had news on Derek and his condition. Picking up right away, and not even getting the first few words out before he told her that the only part of him left was his wolf. "I--- okay.----- Can I come see him? " She asked hearing the last few words break.


Grace nodded, understanding. Swallowing back more tears that wanted to come out. Clearing her throat enough that she hoped her voice didn't break "Can I have a moment?"

Ruby frown confused. "My pretty red dress isn't going to be ruined." She asked having a hard time relaxing. "He did this. Damon had to this." She said. "Damon is alive isn't he? " Ruby looked around her place. "Why can't things go right I want things to go right." Ruby demanded. Blake broke through the door. "I see what's happening your trying to protect me from Nick before he snaps. Nick let go aren't I safe?"

Will looked down. "Yes, but this is war Raven with the vampires you have to choose a side." He whispered. "And I hope it is the werewolves. We could use you as a spy." He hung of the phone.


Eva nodded and walked out of the hut.

"No, your dress isn't going to be ruined... he's not alive. Damon's gone Ruby." he said then looked behind him when he heard the door open and a guy come in. Recognizing who he was right away. It was The Eld-- Blake. Damn he had to get used to saying that. "I already have, so you can stop worrying." He told him then turned back to Ruby. Starting to patch up her shoulder again.


Blake shook his head and crossed over to where Ruby was laying on the coach. Seeing that she was out of it, just a bit. More worried about her dress then anything. Looking her over, then to Nick. "She's been possession-ed. What happened?"


Raven understood that it was war. They had seen it coming, and now it was finally here. Hanging up, the phone and rushing back down the stairs. Seeing a new comer not even bothering with hello's. Just sitting the kit down and saying "I have to go-" Before dashing out the door and back towards the pack house. If nothing else, she needed to say goodbye to her mate.


Grace felt numb, she had just seen her brother a couple days ago. Gave him advice about his relationship with Raven. Seeing as he had told her that they had been having problems, lately. And she had given some to him, told him to talk to her, try to work things out. And she never would find out the answer now. She was sad-- no. Sad wasn't a strong enough word. She was devastated. She'd lost her big brother.. who was she going to turn to now when things got bad for support? For advice on what to do about a tough problem? Who was she suppose to go to when she needed someone to lean on and someone who understood her the best? Why had this even happened? What had made him attack? Who had he even attacked? None of it made any sense, and now it never would. She thought as tears streamed down her face, clutching onto the single black paw.

Ruby tilted her head as Raven was leaving. "A werewolf attacked me out of no where." Ruby said. "He must have died now this means there is a war." She turned her head to Nick. "I'm glad my dress is still perfect. Oh yeah Damon is dead." She hissed at the pain in her arm. Blinking a few times realizing what was happening. "Blake why are you here?" The confusion that was in her mind was slowly disappearing. "I started a war." Nick was still being very close to her she could sense he didn't trust Blake all the way. Neither did she, but he did save her life and she owed him that much.

Will walked into the medical hut and sat down near Grace. "Hey its going to be okay Grace. Raven probably found out who done it and sent the message of war." He hugged her softly. "I'm so sorry you have to lose your brother. He was just out patrolling tonight to make sure the borders were safe. I been trying to protect you from this war that is brewing with the Vampires, but now I failed." Will whispered.

"Came to check up on things. Although I can see that they are not how I expected to find things." He said looking at her gash. Hearing that she had acquired it by a werewolf. That would make sense. "Well, I suggest that we start patching you up then. Seeing as we'll all need all the straight we can get once the war starts."



Grace felt as if she was a faucet that had stopped working. Seeing as no matter how much she felt the need to cry more, for her brothers loss... no more tears would come. They had just stopped falling at some point and now her throat was raw along with her eyes. Looking up from her spot when the door to the medical hut opened. Seeing Will come in, most likely to check on her, seeing as she had no idea how long she'd been in here anymore. Whipping her checks dry. Then wrapping her arms around him wanting to just be held, told that it was going to be okay. Even if it was just a little something. Seeing as she knew this most deffetally wasn't okay. Taking in a deep breath as she rested her head on his chest.

Ruby looked at Blake and nodded her head. "Nick call for the healers now. I'll call the emergency council meeting and have it here. They won't mind having an Elder here." Ruby nodded her head towards Blake, she could feel a power source growing in her it felt amazing and at the same time dangerous. Blake how do I control this power? She asked him silently blocking Nick from hearing her thought. She picked up the phone and planned the council meeting.

"Things will get better Grace." Will whispered. "I'm so so sorry about him, we will make things better." He knew he couldn't make everything better for her, but maybe something things. "Its going to hurt like hell for awhile, but I will make sure nothing like this every happens to you again." He whispered in her ear holding her close to him.

Nick went to call the healers. Once someone answered he explained what had happened and that they needed to get here fast because of the poison in her system. Hanging up once they said that they'd be there as soon as they could. Walking back in after calling her brother again and telling him that he could still come but the meeting had been moved to there house.


Blake looked at her hearing her question. Glancing as Nick walked out to go make some phone calls. "It'll get easier... it just feels weird because your so new at feeling it inside you. Although it might also help if during time down I was able to teach you some ways to control it.

Ruby looked at Blake and nodded. "You're not like the other Elders I have meant. That would be wise to have help to control this power" She said looking at him. "My friend Raven, has books on you guys well the issue with that is her mate was the one I killed. She's going to partner with them I think and the books are going to be a problem. Should we dispose of them?" Her voice was hush she didn't want Nick to hear any of this conversation. When Nick walked in she smiled. "I hope this meeting ends before dawn Avery has registration in the morning."


Rose opened the door. "Sister, this meeting better be good." She hissed. "But I'm glad you called it because I will make sure tonight this is the night you give me your crown and that your shunned."

Ruby eyed her sister the power wanted to come out and destroy her. "You do not speak me to me like that you understand that. I'm still queen I still have this crown. I will be damned if you get it. I will not tolerate this talk of treason to me and the council." She hissed. "Have I made myself clear." If she wasn't hurt and if she wanted people know she was an Elder she would have killed her sister right then and their. The atmosphere was quiet dead quite, like they expected her to attack. Blake I need to know a quick exercise on calming down

Blake had known when Nick had been about to walk back in even before she did. It was part of his powers. And his age. She would get to this point one day. But it wouldn't be for a vary vary long time still. Thinking to her, 'We'll work it out-- lets get through the meeting first. Then we'll deiced what to do about everything else.' Then turned towards the door when it opened, seeing someone- her sister she had said. come in for the meeting. 'Close your eyes,--- think of the best memory you have. Play it in your head, then open your eyes.' He thought to her. He'd done this many times before, and it always seemed to work.



Grace nodded her head into his shoulder. Seeing as she had burred her face into his chest and shoulder, when he had come joined her. Knowing he couldn't really promise that. This was war, in wars people got killed. People got hurt. People died. There was no getting around it. And she wanted to be part of this, she wanted to get revenge for her brothers death. "I know..." She said whipping her checks again. "I saw something on war, that night when I was digging in your suitcase... I thought it was just a study you were looking into, I didn't realize that it was coming and was going to happen. So I forgot about it... I didn't even mean to find it.. I thought you were having an affair and that you might of hide something about it in there so that I wouldn't see it." She said thinking on it for a moment. Then adding. "That all seems like a life time ago, now."



Raven got to the pack house walking back in. And looking around seeing people run back and forth doing things. Setting things up.. And someone was in the kitchen already starting on dinner for the pack. She knew seeing as she'd caught a whiff of something coming in the door.

Ruby nodded her head looking at Blake. Thinking of happy memory playing it in her head over and over again. She started to calm down quickly from that. The healers walked in and started to heal her and she smiled softly. The pain started to go away quickly after the healers were done with it. More people started to come in for the meeting. Ruby sat up. Nick had been quiet since Blake was here she frowned. "I'm glad everyone is here. The werewolves have been building a new pack on our territory. I was attacked by one of them today and I killed it. They said it was war. This is a stupid on their part as we are stronger and have more people than they do, but whatever. I want Jack, Nick, and Mark to be in charge of three different troops of vampires. We will then attack in a triangle motion trapping them. Every single vampire will be equipped with sliver."

"Is that such a good idea to send Nick in as a general?" People started to talk about Nick.

Ruby glared at them. "Don't question my authority of who I put in as a general. Nick is much capable of leading." She snapped at them. "Nick do you have anything to say about this."


Will looked down. "Raven is back let's let her have some time with him. We have a war to fight."

Nick had been quiet much of the time that the meeting was going on. Mostly because of the fact, one he'd never planed a war before, and also he didn't know how she wanted to start this one. Sense they hadn't had time to talk about what and how they were going to do this. Standing taller, and walking to her side when people started questioning rather it was the best idea to put him in as a general. "I will want to speak with the other two generals so that we can plan an attack stringy after the meeting is through."


Grace nodded, getting up and starting to lead him out. Seeing as she had had her time with her brother. Now Raven needed time to be with her mate and greave for his loss.

Ruby nodded looking at them. "Blake and I will scout out the lay of the land infiltrate as much information as needed. We will attack at weeks end. If anyone is found leaking information I will kill you without a trial." She said looking at everyone.

"My lady Queens do not fight." That little comment was about to send her over the edge.

"Generals start the meeting and planning it. I want to make sure there is patorls on our inner borders at all time. If need be will put restrictions." Ruby said.


Will nodded and looked over at Raven. "I need to ask her a favor call a meeting now." He walked over to Raven. "Before you go in there Raven I need you to take Jason back with you. I don't need my nephew being hurt. He has registration tomorrow." He whispered. "Please."

Nick nodded, waving for Jack and Mark to fallow him so that they could start planning. Walking to the office off to the side of the living room so that they'd still be able to hear what was going on. Then shutting the door once they all were in the office.



Grace wasn't ready for this. But she also knew that they needed to plan. Get ready for an attack. Seeing as she knew that there would be one-- somehow she could just feel it. Watching as he walked off and then went to call the meeting.


Raven sat quietly by the bed that they had placed Derek on. Holding onto on of his paws. he hadn't shifted back. And he wouldn't. Not now. He was just-- gone. Taken. Just like that. They had never even been able to make up for the disagreement. Looking up when Will came in, asking if she could take his nephew back with her so that he wouldn't get hurt. 'yeah, I'll take him.. he doesn't need to be around when the attacks start. If they start tonight or tomorrow. Do you want me to bring him back so that you can take him for registration? Or will you come get him?" She asked in a low voice.

"The meeting is adjourned for now. Our next meeting will be Sunday." Ruby said seeing Nick go to his office. Her eyes turned to Blake once everyone left. "I don't want a war. I didn't purposefully kill him I didn't even know who it was. The wolf attacked me out of no where." She paused. "We need to find out what made him attack me so it doesn't happen again."

Ruby trusted Nick to lead, but he didn't even know how to fight. He didn't even know how to use his powers. "I love him so much, but they have a point Nick isn't ready to fight and it's my fault. I should have been training him from day one. Its my fault I disobeyed the law and now I have to pay for it."

Will shook his head. "Raven keep him until this over. I doubt I will be able to leave the pack with out being attacked. Its too much of a risk. If you leave with him when you leave and that should be soon. I wish we knew why he attacked the vampire. Derek knew better." He whispered. "Raven I'm sorry about it. Leave before it gets dark with Jason. We will have someone escort you." He left the hut

Blake watched everyone file out of the house once she announced that it was over. Then turned to her sensing that she needed to talk. Or she had something to say. "I know. And I'll start working on that, seeing as if he was out to hurt you, then we need to know why. I'm afraid there's no way around this one-- you killed one of their own. Rather you meant to or not they wont care. As of now it's going to be war. You need to start teaching him, start tonight. Or have someone you trust do it for you if you can't stand to train him yourself. Because it's going to start soon, and all of us need to be ready when it does." He told her, ending it softly. Knowing she would take offince if he did it to hard.



Grace was in the meeting room with the trackers, propellers and fighters that they had. She wanted to call them first. Explain everything, to them and get their view on it. Then they'd take it to the whole pack. Make plans on what to do, who was going to do what. Plus she wanted Will there for that. So she had called in the majors first. Standing at the front of the table and going over what they knew so far.



"I should give you my books then... they'll try and come for them. And they could help you when it comes to fighting them. If you want, I'll be a spy. I'm no happier then you are about all of this. But we knew it was coming. " She told him, thinking it over, then letting out a breath. "He had been acting strange before-- well before this. So that might lead to something, on why he attacked,-- I should also tell you something, " She said standing up but still staying close to the table. "He didn't just attack any vampire. He attacked Ruby. I caught her smell and went to the house to tell her it was war. And she's --- I don't know. She's stronger now, somehow after being so close to death while she was under Damon's control. And you were trying to get her out of it."

Ruby looked at him and froze for second. "We need to get those books she's going to be a spy. She's going to use those books against us." Ruby sat up in a panic. Her eyes flashed hurt. "She told him that I'm stronger. We have to get those books now before she gets them." She ran to the door. "Tell Nick that when I get back to be in ready to train." Darted towards Ravens house and jumped through the door looking for the chest of books spotting it on the floor gathering all the books and running out. Ruby smiled to herself she got the books. When she arrived back at her house she dropped them on the floor in front of Blake. "I'm not sure if she has any books." She noticed Nick was done with the meeting. "Put out a bounty on Raven."


Will looked at her and his paled a little. "You don't mean she's an Elder?" He asked looking at her. "Raven you don't have to be a spy if you don't want to. I don't want to force you into anything. He whispered.

Blake gathered up the books that she'd dropped at his feet sitting them on the table in front of the coach and started flipping through all of them. They were old. Some even older then him. Looking up at her as she told someone to put a bounty on the girl. "How old is your-- well ex friend now?" He asked, needing to know. Having already let Nick know once he'd come out that he was due to start training.



"Some things seem to point to her being one now.. yes. How much of it she understand I'm not sure. She came to me about it looking for help on how to tell rather she was one or not and how to control it. I told her what I knew, but that was before everything." She told him, thinking on his words of her not having to be a spy if she didn't want to be.

"She's about 300 she moved around a lot into different vampire society" Ruby whispered she was deeply hurt. Raven was her only friend that she had and she betrayed her. "You and I need to set up a training regime for me. They don't expect me to know how to control they think I won't ask or have an Elder to help me train." Ruby whispered. With a snap of her fingers she was in a sports bra and some jogger pants with a high ponytail. She dragged Nick into a door that open to a stair well that lead to a training room.

Ruby looked up at Nick and threw a fire a ball at him in hopes that he would react with some power. He should be able to push back with some type of element hopefully he could control earth and wind like she suspected. They didn't have enough time to train him the long way so scaring it out of him.

Will looked at Raven. "Its good that you don't know for sure if she is an Elder and I doubt she would trust to an Elder if given the chance to train with them." Will blinked and looked at the sun going down. "Leave now before its too late. If you want to be spy I will send you letters through the mail and ask you for details. Raven I can understand if you want to help your kind." He said. "Goodbye Raven he left to go the meeting."

Blake nodded, sensing her disappointment in her ex friend. No, not really disappointment. It was more of-- she felt betrayed. For some reason other then their friendship. He'd have to ask her about that. It might help with her training. He thought as he kept looking through the old books.



Nick had sent Jake and Mike home. Seeing as they had done as much as they could for one night and Ruby had said that she wanted to start training him. Letting her take him to a training room that was next door, before throwing a fire ball at him. Feeling his hands come up almost as if they had done it a hundred times before, and stop it. And then snuffed it out, without even thinking about it.

Raven nodded, she'd give it some thought. Consider everything. Then she'd make her chose. But either way she would care for Jason. Seeing as she wouldn't let the boy get hurt. Going and getting him to take him like Will had asked. Before heading home. Letting someone know to let Will know that she had taken Jason like he had asked and that he would be safe. Running home and shutting the door.

Ruby knew the best way to learn to fight is to do especially if working with your elements. She looked down and astral projected herself behind and smiled. "That's good, but your defense needs to be quicker because a person could sneak up behind you and kill you." The other her put him in the headlock. "When battling you have know your surroundings and the person trying to kill you." She brought herself back together. "Training will begin again tomorrow." Ruby didn't trust herself training with Nick right now. "Please send Blake down I to train with him." Ruby was afraid of hurting Nick."

Nick nodded, knowing she was for real. Training for him would start tomorrow. So he needed rest if he was going to win against her. Stealing a quick kiss and then heading up to send Blake down.


Blake looked up when the door to the training room opened. Seeing Nick come out, but not Ruby. Hearing Nick saying she wanted him for training. Ah, so she was going to start training now.. he thought sitting the book he had been reading aside and walking into the training room.

Ruby smiled softly as he walked up the stairs she looked down noticing Blake was coming down stairs. "I had to send him a way. When I threw the fire ball at him I could barley control it felt like it needs to escape and if I kept using water and fire against it would have gotten too big and too dangerous for him to handle right away. I thought maybe if I did something with you that I wouldn't hurt you as bad as I would Nick." She whispered softly. "I can feel it running through me."


Her fists clenched some. Everything that happened in the last 48 hours happened so quickly. Thinking about Damon, Raven, the wolves, her sister, the people who doubted her just fed into the already growing power. The power was rushing through her veins it made her heart pound faster it was giving her this rush. At the same time she was afraid of unleashing the power because she didn't know what she could do and she knew the power would grow as she did. She looked up at Blake her eyes turned a bright blue as the power was taking over her. Ruby could feel a ripple of shock waves going towards Blake. The power was in control not her.

After so many years of training others he expected it to be semi rough. Seeing as he knew how it felt. He knew it a little too well, seeing as he had been forced to train himself. When he became an Elder so many eons ago now, because no one had wanted to help him. That's why he always put forth the effort to help new Elders when they needed it. Like she did now. Feeling the shock wave coming towards him and snapping his fingers feeling it leave the air. "I see..... It's a good thing that you decided to get started. Now. Where is the place you feel most at piece at?"

Ruby looked down trying to manage to speak. "Nick's arms." She whispered coldly forcing the words out of her mouth. This time she sent another shock wave this time you could see the static electric in the air. Her eyes widened as she could see the electric waves in the air. She smiled she liked the way it made her feel.

Blake snapped it out of the air with his own powers. Shaking his head, he didn't want to involve Nick in this. It would be too risky for the things she needed to learn and what she needed to learn to control better in the short amount of time that they had. "Were else? Think of the place, besides in his arms that you feel most at piece. Like you've gone away and when you go there your coming home again." He told her moving closer to her.


Grace looked up when the door to the meeting room opened. Expecting it to be someone coming to inform her of something, but then saw Will walk in. He must of finished speaking to Raven about everything. Holding up a hand to the others to go greet him and tell him what they had covered so far.

Ruby looked up at Blake and shrugged her shoulders the only place she could think of was Nick's arms everywhere else she was on edge. Everywhere else she shut off people. She tried thinking back to a time before Nick what did she do to find peace nothing came to her and she frowned. "I don't have another place." Those four words were the five coldest things she ever spoken. Before Nick people didn't like her she was too imitating. The wind started to pick up around her personal space. There was soon an electrical field around her. "I don't need another place or a person. Everyone I ever cared about betrayed me and hurt me in some way. Every place I stepped in at something bad happened." She snapped.

Will nodded his head. "Raven took Jason she also knows who killed Derek. It was a new Elder." He said he didn't want to tell Grace who it was. "The identy of this person will be between me and Raven. The good news is this person doesn't have a teacher and Raven has books full of information to help us." He said. "We may be smaller, but we can still win."

"Maybe. Now. If I'm going to train you, we need to trust each other. Is that clear? I can only do so much for you if you aren't willing to do that. Seeing as some of the training is going to require us to trust each other," He told her as he started walking around the room but always keeping an eye on her. He could tell that the power would be in control soon. And if that happened all the way he'd have to pull her back. And that would be unpleasant for both of them.



Grace nodded, as she listened. "That we know of, at least. A new one? There hasn't been one now for what? A thousand years? Or more?" She wasn't quit sure how long it had been even though she had heard some of it and how long ago it had been. But wasn't sure. "That's good, I have a feeling we'll be needing those if we're going to go up against them." Turning back to glance at the others in the room.

Ruby didn't look at Blake she wasn't sure how to answer him. Part of her told her that she could trust him, but there was still a very big part of her that didn't trust him and that was with everyone even Nick. Her emotions were feeding into the power and that with that Ruby could feel the power take over he and she felt her conscious mind slip away. She felt as if she was free falling into this power. Power in control of someone is dangerous because it will react to their emotions. The emotions of betrayal, anger, and sadness were the most dangerous because they turned into something of revenge. She glanced to the door that led to out of the training room.

"No this is the first new one in a long time. Trust me this person wouldn't trust an Elder." He whispered. "If the person gets a teacher then we will have no hope. I have two theories on what could do in the case of that. Take one of the two people that this person cares about as a prisoner." Pausing for a second. "I don't want to do this unless if we have to." He said looking at them.

Blake didn't miss a beat. He saw when it came and he saw her eyes drift to the door of the training room. "I know what your thinking... it's not going to work." He told her crossing the space and standing in front of her. "I know. It's hard controlling it when your mad and you feel betrayed. I've been there. But if you're going to fight with your people without harming any of them, your going to have to let me train you. So that you'll be ready when the time comes." He told her resting a careful hand on her arm.


"And the second?" Someone asked from the rows of people. That was a good idea but maybe the second one would be better. It was better to consider all options before coming to any decisions.


Grace looked down at her self, feeling her face go red in embarrassment. She hadn't changed yet. She still wore Will's jacket with nothing else underneath. Although with everything going on she hadn't had time to change yet. Waving to him from the back and pointing to the jacket before mouthing 'I'll be back...' Before sliding out the door.

Ruby looked at Blake her eyes were a bright blue, but emotionless. "My own family has betrayed me, my only friend has betrayed me. My own mate doesn't understand anything. All I want Nick to is control me that's all I ask of him. Then I won't have to worry about anything. I would be normal for once in my life. That I could have the mental break that I need. As a mate I think he would understand my needs he would understand that I can't take it anymore. His response to all of this was your really strong the curse is broken we can finally be happy there is nothing to worry about." Ruby shook her head. "Sometimes I feel he doesn't care about me that he doesn't want to be a vampire. That's he's tired of me and this life. Sometimes I regret changing him. He isn't even suppose to be a vampire. He doesn't understand the feeling of ruining his life." She snapped more electric waves were sent out this time stronger than before. Her eyes widened as a ripple of pain ran through her she collapsed to her knees.

"What are you doing?" She hissed. "Let me have her." The power's voice was cold. "Let her have the revenge it will make her feel better." Part of Ruby's conscious mind that wouldn't hurt anyone she cared about. The good part of her was buried under all the power and Blake had to bring it out.

Will nodded at Grace. "Kill her mate." He said looking at them. "Again that's an extreme." He said softly.

He hadn't wanted to do it seeing as she was just in the beginning stages but he had seen no other way around it when the power had taken full control of her. Bringing out her worst possible abilities and causing her to want revenge even more. Ejecting the jolt that was even more powerful that she'd sent unknowingly towards him. Widening his own eyes slightly and bringing her to her knees as he shot a jolt of pain through her told hold her there. "I don't think so.. so lets talk. What is it that you most desire? I know what Ruby does seeing as I've been watching them, but what about you? Humm?" He questioned. First he needed to get to the source of the power find it's weak spot. They all had it. Then when he could understand and see into it. Then he'd let her up. But this was just part of it. Something that had to be done. And he'd be sure to explain that to her once she was herself again.



Grace ducked out of the room, heading to a bedroom hoping it was the right one. Seeing as she hadn't been here and hadn't slept here before either. But as long as she had Will's scent then she could find it. Tracing it to a bedroom on the third floor of the house. Walking in, and to the closet. Hopefully he'd bothered bringing a couple of her shirts with him when he'd come. Or else she'd be putting on his sweets and a tshirt.



Everyone in the room nodded in agreement. That was a extreme. And they all knew it. "How much do we know about this new Elder?"

Ruby could feel the jolt of shock into this pain and it was like shock waves kept hitting her over and over again. Her breathing became hard as she clutch training room's floor. "You and I both know that the power can't over flow a person unless if they wanted it to even just a little bit." She smiled through the pain. "She wanted this so why can't you respect her wishes?" Another jolt went through her this time, stronger. "I'm not going to give up and I will not tell you my greatest desire." She hissed. "You will have to do better than that. I'll give you one last chance or I will get Nick to come down here and save us."


Will hoped Grace found the closet of clothing he had made for her. "The Elder is weak minded and doesn't have much confidence. If we can capture the Elder and break their mind then that could be used to our services. I know this is a little extreme too as I don't like having people working to break one's mind. Other packs do it, but I'm not like other packs." He shook his head.

"Oh trust me. I know you wouldn't give it up that easy. That, or the power is stronger then the persons mind and takes over. We both know it's not the first time that; that had happened. I wont because she needs to learn how to control you." Blake said as he kept walking around the room hands behind his back. The one thing he hadn't said however was that Nick would be able to tell the difference and wouldn't help her. And also he wouldn't give the boy that chance. He'd be knocked out on the floor the minute he went to come forward to help her. Seeing as he would make sure of that.



Grace opened the closet thinking that it would be his things seeing as he had; had no reason to put things in there for her because of their distance. Feeling her mouth drop open once it was opened and she could see inside. It was stuffed half full of clothes. Some of it was the clothes from home. But others were things she'd never seen before. How had he--? He must of checked her size on some of the clothes at home while they'd still been living together and had gone to get them. Covering her mouth with her hand. Taking a moment to get over the shock of all of it. And then ruffled through them to pick out an outfit.



Everyone nodded in agreement. Seeing as mostly everyone knew of the alpha's dislike of using mind control. "Then, how should we go about gaining the elder?"

The power smiled at him and laughed. "She's such a weak minded person. We are one in the same people. We desire the same things. She wants freedom and I'm giving her that." The power frowned as she realized that she said the desire. Ruby was trying to fight her way to the surface, but the power was too strong and part of her didn't want to fight. She was tried of fighting and the power was giving her the escape that she wanted Nick to give her. Another shock wave jolted her. Ruby's body was getting burned out. She sent a shock wave of power towards her bedroom knowing Nick was in there it was weak one, but it could take down a vampire. Ruby was fighting back now she didn't want to hurt Nick. She didn't want him to die, but the power was so strong. "Please make it stop. I can't be an Elder. I'm not strong enough. This is too much power." Ruby's voice quivered as she struggled to say these words. Tears started to come down her face.

"I can't control it." Ruby whispered softly. "It's sending shock waves and they will hurt him" She didn't realize the shock waves that she was sending out towards her room had stopped. She didn't realize that she was slowly taking control of it.



Will shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know." He whispered. He sighed he wasn't sure what to do honestly. How could he hurt Ruby and Nick? Avery called him and Grace aunt and uncle. "Lets get patorls out and start gathering supplies." He looked at everyone. "Tomorrow we will have a meeting with everyone." He turned and left and walked to his house. He slumped over at the door. This was war, but he knew Ruby wouldn't purposefully kill Derek and Derek knew who she was. So why would he attack her? He wasn't that stupid to attack Ruby.

He walked up the stairs to his room. "Grace I have a confession to make. I just think this war might be a mistake. Derek knew better than attacking the person he did. He wasn't stupid enough to do that." He shook his head. "The vampire who killed Derek was Ruby. I'm confused on why he attacked her. Why was his intention on killing her? I mean Ruby is an Elder, but Ruby is still Ruby." He whispered. "We need to find out why he attacked."

Blake smiled to himself, as he heard her break through. She was fighting it. Rather she knew it yet or not she was slowly getting it under control so that she'd be the one in power and not the power it's self. "Your doing well... it's going to take time. But your already making progress." He told her as he slowly started to walk again. He'd never meet someone that had been able to start to gain control this fast before. Maybe it had something to do with her Royal Blood. Seeing as everyone he'd trained in the past it had taken weeks for them to come under control of themselves enough in order to speak to him. And now he knew what it desired. That would help as well, if anything should happen and it was able to gain control again.



Everyone left to go do what they needed to do. Rather it was patrolling or something else.



Grace looked up when he came into the room. She'd just finished getting dressed and was lifting her hair out of the collar of her shirt she'd picked out. It was a low cut V neck royal blue thing. With a pair of shorts. Going without shoes seeing as she had thought the meeting would be ending soon anyways. Turning to him when he had a confession. Listening as he told her what it was and what was bothering him. "Ruby? How?" She asked then realized it wasn't important right now. Yes it was important but it could also wait. "Maybe, but we've already declared it.. we can't really call that back. Although I guess there's no harm in trying to, anyways. Seeing as if it's Ruby and Nick we're up against--- one of them might see reason and agree to call the whole thing off. Why would he do that though? That isn't him, he knew who she was. What her status was in the vampire world.... Maybe we should have someone do an autopsy see if that reveals anything on why he might have attacked her." She said thinking everything that she knew over again. Looking for any clue as to why Derek would of done this. What his motive had been if he had been intent on killing her.

Ruby looked up sweat was dripping down her face. She was tired and wanted it all to stop. The power came swirling back at her trying to take control. It her at full force. "How is this progress." She stammered softly. If she didn't gain control soon she wouldn't be able to registrar her daughter for school. She wouldn't be able to fight along her people. She wouldn't be able to held by Nick. Blake said that she need a place where she was at peace. Ruby closed her eyes and pictured herself in Nick's arms. His sent overwhelmed her and relaxed her. A smile appeared on her face his heart beat was like a lullaby that could put her to sleep. The power slowly started to back off. She then glanced up at Blake. "Is this the power going to take over me every single time?" She asked softly letting out a light yawn. "I took control didn't I?" Ruby asked not sure.

Will looked up at Grace "I don't think calling off the war is going to be a smart thing." He whispered softly. "We knew a war was coming sooner or later." He glanced up. "You don't think anyone would try to control Derek to attack Ruby and start a war?" He asked that was a big possibility and the only real reason he could think of for Derek's behavior.

Blake came to a stop once more. She had a strong will even if he brain wasn't as strong willed as the rest of her. Seeing a smile- a true one. Not one of The Power ones break across her face a moment later. Waiting for a moment for her to open her eyes. "Maybe. Maybe not. I guess we'll have to find out. Although it's up to you rather or not it does. The Power, it can tell when it's host wants it too. Even if it's just a little- and it's the slightest thought of letting it take over. It'll use that, until it is in control. I have trained many Elders in my time as one. And you, even if you don't think your strong. And you don't have a strong mind will. You do. You just proved yourself wrong about that, when you took control of The Power. I have trained countless others, and almost every single one of them has never been able to do what you just did. Gain control and take it back within just an hour." He told her letting his hands rest at his sides.




Grace considered it, going and sitting on the end of the bed. As she thought. Yeah, calling off the war wasn't the smartest thing to do, but it was a thought. "Maybe. It's at least possible. Derek.... had his ups and downs there's no lying about that. But a week or so ago, he came to me asking about advice, about what he should do."

Ruby felt the jolts stop and she relaxed. "I did what you told me to do go to place that I felt most at peace at. I just closed my eyes and pictured myself in Nick's arms and it worked." She pushed herself up from the floor. "Nick always says that I'm better than vampires that just let their mates control them because I'm a fighter. Sometimes I just want to give up and stop fighting everything, but that's not being strong its giving. Nick will never let me give up." She whispered. "You ask me if I trust you and I do. Part of me remembers the all the times you saved me. I know you won't hurt me because even after all you these years your still keeping your promise to your brother for watching me." Ruby looked up at Blake. "Thank you." she paused. "Since you are staying here please feel free to sleep in the pool house or one of the guest bedrooms. Is there anything you want me to work on before our next training session?" She asked. Ruby was beginning to see what Nick always saw her in her.

Will shook his head. "I'm not going to do an autopsy on him. His wolf is still alive and finishing him off would just seems wrong." He said looking at her. "We'll figure out and make sure it doesn't happen. The others can't know about Ruby and Nick." He whispered.

"He's right, you know... your stronger then you think you are. And you'll come to see that as your training goes on. That's good, you'll need those memories for some of the training we'll be doing as it goes on and things become harder.---- If I end up failing at everything else for the rest of my life that is the one thing I plan to never fail at. Watching and protecting you, when you can't protect yourself. It's been nearly a thousand years but sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday I made that promise." He told her thinking back on all of it. It had nearly been more then a thousand years but he could still remember it like it was yesterday. "Thank you. Try calming your temper, more when you get into arguments, like you did tonight when you got mad at your sister. It'll come in handy."



"I agree, they'd just get more enraged and want blood sooner. Because they know of our friendship with them.... let's wait until he wakes, let him out into the woods. maybe watch his habits where he goes... for a while. Maybe that will give us some idea on what caused it."

Ruby nodded her head and looked at him and smiled. "Its not my fault that I always find a way into trouble." She laughed softly. "Okay I will make sure to do that. I'm sure training will start tomorrow." She paused. "Blake is the reason you guys wanted Avery is because you knew Nick was going to snap if he didn't let go? You wanted to protect her because she's going to be very powerful vampire." She whispered. "It doesn't matter now. She's going to bombared you in the morning. You have been warned." Ruby smiled. "Goodnight, Blake."

Nick might not trust Blake, but she did. Ruby walked up to her room and opened the door. Nick was sound asleep. "Goodnight my love." She kissed his head curled into him as she fell into a deep sleep.


Will nodded. "Jason is with Raven." He said. "We need to come up with a plan for all the children or mothers to be." He whispered. "This is mating season and we are going to be losing more people from the pack." He said. "We also need to try to gather some allies. Do you think your pack will come to help? The alpha was your brother's best friend I'm sure he would want to help."

Blake had nodded when she had asked rather or not training would start tomorrow. The sooner they started the better. Then let her go, knowing she was right. He would get bombarded with questions come morning by their daughter. Some would be ticker then others but he'd do his best to explain as much as he could to her because of her age. That was one of the reasons they had wanted Avery. The other half was because some of the other Elders thought it better to train her now. So that when she got older it wouldn't be as hard on her. But they didn't even know if she'd become an Elder. Blake had been one of the ones' that wanted to hold off on taking her. See what happened, how it played out. But the others didn't think it wise. Now he was here to help and he would make sure neither Ruby or Avery got hurt or taken by the others if he could stop it. Watching as she walked out of the training room. Then fallowing her out a few minutes later to go to one of the guest bedrooms.



Grace let out a deep sigh. It was mating season, and that meant that there were now mothers to be. And children already soon to be born. "That's good,--- maybe we'll be able to get away in order to sign him up tomorrow.... Raven will just have to take him there and get him back home safely once school starts. Although she's more then capable of doing that.." Thinking on it. Would her old pack come to help? It was true, the pack leader was her brother's best friend. "I'll see what I can do... go visit with him. Do it on neutral Territory though so that there's no risk to either one of us. Although I'm sure he'll be willing to join us after he hears what's happened. When do you want me to call asking for a meeting with him?"

Ruby smiled everything was going to go alright. Hours later she felt some jump on her bed. "Mommy, daddy time to wake up. Me have to get signed up for school. Time to get signed up for school." Avery giggled. Ruby opened her eyes she couldn't help, but smile at how cute Avery was.

"Yes it is time to get signed up for school." She picked up Avery and saw that she dressed herself in purple shirt with neon orange pants. Ruby smiled. "Let's get breakfast started and then maybe daddy can pick you an outfit that matches."

Avery smiled. "Okay mommy, can we have waffles, bacon, eggs, fruit." Ruby laughed a little bit.

"How about waffles and bacon." She said walking down the stairs. She turned on the tv and sat her down. She noticed Blake sitting at the table. "Did you get any sleep?" She asked.

Avery ran over to Blake. "You're old." Avery said. "You're mommy's friend. How old are you?" My name is Avery. I'm this many." She showed him five fingers. "Mommy and daddy are signing me up for school." She smiled. "I dressed myself, mommy said my clothing don't match."


"No we aren't crossing the borders. Its too dangerous." Will said softly. "I don't know soon." Will sighed shaking his head. "Probably in the morning. We should sleep and plan tomorrow." Will whispered.

Blake had woken around 5 that morning. He wasn't one for sleeping much. And lately he found himself not needing to sleep as often anymore either for some reason. Maybe it was due to all the stress lately that was being put on him. So had gotten up and made a pot of coffee and had started planning what to do first for training in his head. But stopped and smiled when he heard Ruby and her daughter coming down the stairs. Seeing Avery run over to him and ask how old he was because he was old. Laughing softly. "Wow, your five? Are you excited about starting school?" He asked glancing over to Ruby and nodding his head. Telling her that he had gotten some.



Nick heard- and felt when Avery jumped on the bed. Slowly waking up as Strawberry and Avery headed down stairs wondering if Blake was still here or if he'd gone-- where ever he went. Getting out of bed and going to pull a shirt on over his head before heading down stairs to meet everyone.




Grace nodded. That was one of the main reasons why she thought it would be good to do it on Neutral Territory. That way neither of them owned the land and neither of them would be at risk from the others' pack. Seeing as if the land was Neutral neither one of them owned it and no one else did either. "Okay, I'll do it after the meeting with everyone. That way we can know as soon as possible... Yeah, that sounds like a plan." She said looking over to the clock on the bedside table. It read 10:50. It was almost going on 11. Normally she'd be in bed and asleep by now. And that was on a good night. Standing an sliding out of the jean shorts and going to pick out a tank top to sleep in. She'd seen those. Reaching out and picking one before taking her top and bra off to slip into the tank top.

Ruby smiled at Avery as she was asking questions to Blake. He looked tired maybe he was just stressed out about everything. There was probably something on his mind she shook her head and then she saw Nick and smiled. She ran over and hugged him. "Good morning." She pecked his lips. "I'm making you a special batch of pancakes. Just for you." She walked over to the kitchen. "But before you eat I would love if you can go for a mile run and lift some weights." Ruby smiled. Because it will help you get back to where you were for football and then we can go from there. I also get to see you shirtless, but that's just an added bonus Ruby started to make waffles for Avery. "Blake do you want waffles?"

Avery nodded her head. "Yeah I'm really excited. Mommy is also going to teach me vampire studies. I'm going to get make tons of new friends and Saturday mommy is having everyone in my class come over for a play date."

Ruby looked over to Avery. "Sweetie I don't think the play date can be this weekend. Mommy and daddy are busy with some important things." Avery frowned some. "But don't worry sweetie after the important things we will have so many play dates that you will have so many friends."


Will heard Grace move around. "Good morning." He whispered softly. He slipped a shirt on. "We have to put a curfew. I don't want anyone going in town. The vampires probably have it secure enough. I hope Raven gets Justin to the school on time."

Nick smiled slightly. Walking over and leaning against the counter by the stove where Ruby was starting to work waiting until she was done talking to Avery about the play date then saying, "Alright, I'll be back in an hour, and then lift some weights.... so no rush on those pancakes. Although, if you wanted I could just lift you and make you part of my work out.." Low enough so that Avery couldn't hear and neither could Blake.


"Oh, my... it sound like your going to be one busy little girl very soon. I'm sure your going to have tons of friends once you start school." Blake said lifting her up and sitting her on his knee. Turning to Ruby when she said they might be able to do the play date after all. "If you want I can always host it, invite some of the kids over to play.. " He might be old but he still remembered how to watch children when they had play dates.


Grace rolled over and then sat up rubbing her eyes. Already hearing him moving around and getting dressed. Standing and going to their shared closet to do the same. "I'm sure she will.. that's a good idea. And let everyone know that if they have to go to town for something important to take someone with them."
