Hello all,
I am Jack and I am in my 60s. The Coretta Scott King Awards honor authors and illustrators of African descent whose books promote an understanding and appreciation of the "American Dream." I have a life long interest in Children's, Middle School and Young Adult Literature. I use reading and sharing books with my grandkids, grandnieces and grandnephews as a way to establish a long term relationship based upon shared interests and to encourage reading as a life long habit. The Coretta Scott King Awards honor authors and illustrators are a way to share that dream.
Student Member of American and Massachusetts Library Associations.

Shellye | 1 comments Hi Jack. Thanks for this group. I'm a lover of books and I'm currently assisting an author with a book about MLK Jr and how he collaborated with athletes and entertainers to advance the civil rights movement. It's a short read and, I believe, would be an awesome book to introduce to young adults to adults. Set to release in September. It was originally his dissertation entitled, A Coalition of Conscious.

Welcome Shelly. Please keep me posted about the book. I am continuing to build out the CSK Book Club discussion and welcome all comments on content, your favorite CSK books and parent/teacher reference materials for young people.
