Outlander
question
Should I get in on this?

I hear people talk about this. Is it great? Middling? Boring? Will I love it?

It largely depends on the type of novels you already like. There is a lot of detail in this series and some people find it boring. Myself included actually. But I still love the novels. For many it doesn't start to get interesting until about 80ish pages in, even though what happens prior is very important to the story.
I say go for it. You'll know soon enough if it's the book for you and if it is you'll have over 8000 pages of fun!

oh! well I do love the fantasy genre and I heard there is time traveling involved, and badass female characters? if so- yesyesyes!
there is very little time travel in it and the badass female characters-well, she is strong but not what I'd call badass. Lisbeth Salander of "The Girl Who..." series she is not and not even close.
I'm on the third in the series right now. I enjoyed the first one, found the second one immensely boring and haven't made up my mind on this one yet.
I'm in the minority as I didn't mind the beginning of Outlander boring.
All you can do is dip a toe in and see what you think.

The herione, Claire,is not bad-ass, so if that's what you're looking for, then no you won't enjoy the books.
It is however, an epic historical story that not only spans two time periods, but several continents, and a lifetime love. There are many interesting characters that you will love and love to hate.

Outlander is a very good series/book. There's plenty of romance and adventure. Although each book is at least 800 pages, I find it hard to stop reading these books. I personally wouldnt say that Claire is bad ass but she is brave and a very likable character. I'm only halfway book 4 in the series and there really isn't a lot of time traveling. I personally loved this book even though I'm used to reading a lot of YA Dystopian/Fantasy and YA New Adult books. I stepped out of my normal genre (because of the TV show. Lol) and I'm happy I did. If you end up reading Outlander, I hope you will enjoy it! :)
I've been reading Outlander series for almost 20 years and have re-read the books many, many times and will continue to do so. But, to my disappointment they are NOT for everyone, my daughter included,I found out after buying her the first 3 novels. I admit some parts are slow but that is just Diana being Diana, she is very visual in her writing. Sometimes if you just skip past the colors of flowers and other things, it will be a story you will never forget.
