Stephen Welch (swelch) | 9 comments Hey Harold, My name is Stephen. Live not to far away in Charleston SC. Have been a comic reader for the last 30 years.

So any particular publishers? Marvel? DC? Dark Horse? or are more of an small press reader?

Harold Neighbors (haroldo359) | 9 comments i used to read everything. as long as the writing was good. always like vertigo stuff and dc best, though.

past favs were peter david's run on inc. hulk, grendel, early sandman, sandman mystery theatre, and powers.

Stephen Welch (swelch) | 9 comments Yeah David's run on the Hulk is still one of the best. I have the first 2 trades reprinting his run.

I am mainly a Marvel guy though I do like DC. Though lately DC has gotten to confusing with all the big cross overs. Sandman is still one of my favorite series from DC as is James Roberson's Starman.

With Marvel for the most part you can read the main story and not have to read any of the cross over titles to get what is going on.

Harold Neighbors (haroldo359) | 9 comments i agree about crossovers completely. wasn't always as bad.

i haven't read any of comic "issues" in years.

i lack only a couple of early mcfarlane issues from having all of david's hulk. but collecting never was very important to me; it was always reading.

i loved starman as well. first story arc of ostrander's the spectre was as well.

also loved most of the stuff that alan moore wrote. although most of the ABC stuff was mediocre. did they ever reprint the miracleman stuff he did? i know back when i was actively reading that stuff got scarce.

Stephen Welch (swelch) | 9 comments I think the Miracleman stuff is still held up in a legal nightmare.

I am more of a reader than collector as well even though I still get the single issues. That is why now most stuff I wait for the trade. Unless it's something that I really can't wait for in trade. And there are only a few titles that are like that. Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man, Nova, Green Lantern and one or two more.

Harold Neighbors (haroldo359) | 9 comments sucks about miracleman. what i did read of that back in the day was amazing.

i recently bought and read the joker hardcover. gonna be looking into getting some new trades and getting back into what it going on in the world of comics. i still am not up on who is writing what, but i do hear captain america is a must-read.

thanks for the info, man.

Stephen Welch (swelch) | 9 comments I have been meaning to pick up the Joker hardcover. Just one more book that is on my list of wants.

Though I have been picking up the Starman Omnibus's. I have vol 1 & 2. Will be getting 3 here soon. What is great about these is that not only are they reprint the Starman series but the Shade Mini series that was a tie-in and some other tie-in stuff that was published. And what is cool is that they are publishing it in chronological order. So it all fits in nice and neatly.
