ABANDONED. book with a sentimental fishing story inside

I'm looking for a book I read that had a sentimental story in it. A boy told the story of his father who had taken him fishing as a child and his father god robbed by a group of bikers while on the trip. After he was beaten and taken from, he went back to finish fishing with his son so he would have a fond memory of fishing and still want to do it? I believe it was pretty recent, but that's all I have! Thanks
