Z-squared | 8575 comments No, sorry. Goodreads policy is pretty clear on how book titles and their series are formatted on this site:

https://www.goodreads.com/help/show/2...

message 304: by Z-squared (new)

Z-squared | 8575 comments series

Series should always be created separately. (See here for more information.) Currently, the series display is not complete across the website, and therefore series information may be repeated in the title field; this is optional.

Place the series information in parentheses after the title and any subtitle or transliteration. If the book is numbered in the series, place the number after the series name with the # symbol in front of it. (Use the same conventions for series numbering in titles as is used in the series object.) Previous conventions used a comma after the series name and before the number; this is also acceptable. If formatted in this fashion, the parenthetical part of the title will be replaced by the actual series object's name and number on the book page as a link to the series.

...and I'm done. Rivka or another librarian with more experience is more than welcome to overrule me.

Yes, but as Z-squared said, that is not how we format series on Goodreads. The Prophecy (Reign #1) is correct.

Nanette | 24 comments I'm the translator for the following books. Could someone add (or, in one case, correct the spelling of) my name, please? Sorry for the long list: I just joined the author program and am trying to add my books. Thank you very much!

1. Thea Stilton Graphic Novels #1: The Secret of Whale Island

2. Thea Stilton Graphic Novels #2: Revenge of the Lizard Club

3. Thea Stilton Graphic Novels #3: The Treasure of the Viking Ship

4. No Pasaran! Vol. 3 (Max Fridman)

5. Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels #4: Following the Trail of Marco Polo

6. Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels #5: The Great Ice Age

7. Dinosaurs in Action! (Geronimo Stilton - Graphic Novels #7

8. The Fastest Train In the West (Geronimo Stilton - Graphic Novels #13

9. For the 12th GS Graphic Novel (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...), the spelling of my name, McGuinness, has two n's.

10. The First Mouse on the Moon (Geronimo Stilton - Graphic Novels #14

11. Dinosaurs #1: In the Beginning...

12. Dinosaurs #3: Jurassic Smarts

13. Dinosaurs #2: Bite of the Albertosaurus

14. Also for the Giardino book above, Max Friedman is spelled with both an "i" and an "e."

Here are the links to the Geronimo Stilton Graphic Novels series, too, if they help:

Z-squared | 8575 comments 315 done. FYI, "Max Friedman" is the anglicized spelling of the original italian series "Max Fridman":

Assuming, of course, wikipedia can be trusted on this. So no change for the book spelling on the series page, since it was originally created in Italian.

Great! Thanks so much, Z-squared.

Possibly silly question: I thought (from reading the help files) that these books would now autopopulate to my author page. I gather, again from the help files, that there might be a spacing issue in the books' listings of my name, which may be preventing this. May I ask for your help yet again?

On Max Friedman: yes, this is the translated version of his name from the Italian. (Both you and Wiki :) are right about the Italian original.) If the series should have only an Italian-language entry, as the original language, then that's correct and fine. If it should have a separate English-language entry for the English series, then it should be Friedman. Either works for me :).

Thanks so much!
Nanette

Ugh. I hate it when this happens. Sometimes new books don't get added to the right profile immediately, even if they are spaced correctly. I don't understand why. Anyway, I'm doublechecking my work from yesterday now to make sure everything is moved over correctly.

Generally, alternative-language series listings for the same books are discouraged because they're redundant. The only exceptions are if the books in the series have been divvied up differently in one language versus another. So in this case, no need for an English series.

message 317: by Z-squared (new)

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 322, because you have published books under both names, both profiles will stay on Goodreads. you can claim the Rashida Williams profile with a different email address than the one you used to claim Really Rashida. that will give you control over the profile and the books associated with it.

Heikki | 84 comments Hi,

Please change details of the book:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

Book cover:
http://koti.kapsi.fi/hekemon/talvi.jpg

Description in Finnish:
Viiden perheen kohtaloita 1930-luvulta kylmän sodan vuosiin saakka

Price comparison sites get their data from the booksellers whose prices they are comparing, so they are not sources we can use.

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 341, books are often reissued with new covers on old ISBNs. on Goodreads, a given ISBN can be attached to only one book record. so if a book was republished with a different cover, we create something called an 'alternate cover edition' or ACE instead. in your post, books 1, 3, and 4 all have covers attached already. I am happy to make ACEs for each wtih your cover images, but it would help if you could supply some additional information, such as format, page numbers, publisher, publication date (of that specific issue), and the ISBN (just to confirm).

I have added the covers to books 2 and 5. I noticed those records are lacking info, too. If you could include format, page numbers, publisher, publication date for those books as well, that would be a big help. thanks!

ok, for the additional information, however, in my other post, I gave you other information (pages, illustrator, publisher) to be added that you ignored even for 2 and 5... do you need more confirmation also for those?

for 1, 3, 4 the ISBN I have on my books, is the same as the one on the links I quoted, that's why I asked for a cover change...

Z-squared | 8575 comments re 345, i will make some ACEs for you with the info provided. i apologize if what i asked for was redundant. any info you can give will be helpful.

as for cover changes, we do NOT change covers. as I explained above, books are frequently re-released with new covers. Goodreads keeps ALL published covers because users like to shelve the edition they own. when this happens, we create alternate cover editions (ACEs). If you want more information on this policy, I encourage you to read about it in the librarian's manual here:

or the author FAQ here, message #3:

Amberle Husbands A while back, I noticed that there is no description or synopsis for The Bird of Time by Wallace West. I finally tracked down my copy, and wondered if this -- taken directly from the back cover -- would be appropriate. If so, could someone please add it?

From paperback's back cover:

A running chronicle of the conflict between the ancient feathered folk of Mars and the brash expansionists of Earth... It is entertainment from start to finish, with only snatches of the serious aspects of dying Mars and bull-headed Earth. "Go along with the author and enjoy the story." -- P. Schuyler Miller, Analog Science Fiction

When the first expedition from Earth arrived on Mars they were not greeted with open arms. Not only had the Martians long ago learned all they wanted about Earth -- they wanted nothing to do with us... But Earthmen are incorrigible, and Martians are obstinate, and the result is an adventure-packed novel that spans two planets and several stars and is great scienve fiction all the way.
