Katie Lewis | 6 comments In my book looking for Alaska by John Green there are four main characters. The first named miles, also the narrator of the story, a young boy from Florida. Originally having no friends he switches to a boarding school in Alabama (Culver Creek) finally finding not only one friend but, three true friends. The second main character Alaska is a girl of true passion, confidence, and spontaneous decisions. Most of the time Alaska is the girl who leads everyone to follow in her footsteps weather it be for good or for bad. The third main character is chip. He is a witty, smart, and headstrong person. He will never cease at the chance to seek revenge on another, but he will follow the code of respect among the students by and by. The last main character Takumi, while not a very vocal person ends up still effecting many other characters decisions by his wise insight and wisdom.

“The final exam: What is the most important question human beings must answer? Choose your question wisely, and then examine how Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity attempt to answer it”(pg.89).
Throughout this novel I think these questions actually play a very large role. Each of the characters struggles with their own questions and strives to find the answers to them. I think in a lot of ways these questions and thoughts even change and guide their decisions toward other things. Miles question is, “What happens to us when we die”(pg. 89). Chips is “Why do good people get rotten lots in life”(pg.89), and although we don’t know what Alaska’s question is throughout the book the author leaves little hints and clues of what it could possibly be.
