Based on the summary and the movie tie-in cover, I am getting BVs about this book. I know this will make me cry. I know this will make me sad. Sa "My Sister's Keeper" nga eh hagulgol to the max... Either daddy or the son will die. HAHA! or both but I doubt, feeling ko si son, diva pangmasPulitzer pagsi son ang madeads? hehe

Gail: Based on what I heard, "American Gods" is the more "mature" book of Gaiman. My American friend and I who are both in 40s, like this. She said that this is her favorite Gaiman. She could say that because she has read other Gaiman books like Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book, etc. I've only read American Gods but I am planning to read these two that are included in TFG 100.

My younger friends, who are maybe at the same age bracket with you, prefer those over American Gods.

Gail:..."
... That'll probably explain a lot. I decided to pick up a Gaiman novel because I loved the result of his and Pratchett's teamwork in Good Omens (a book I started last year but never finished because I lost my copy) so I decided to give him a shot. His other works intrigued me too but being a mythology kid, I went ahead and charged into American Gods.

I think I'll probably postpone this book for now since I don't really think that I'll appreciate it at the stage I'm in right now. Need more intellect.

I've been looking forward reading that book. recommended daw yan for those interested in Greek mythology. hmmm..

On topic: Currently reading discovery of witches. Now in page 50...interesting book.

message 4338: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments I didn't like American Gods. bored me to death, to be honest. puro mythology yan, not just Greek.

characters are interesting, though.

message 4339: by Jyvan (new)

Jyvan | 10 comments Really? good thing nasa huli sa listahan ko yan. hehe

message 4340: by Gail (new)

Gail (nighting-gail) | 26 comments I think...

For now, I think I'll start on either Beyonders: A World Without Heroes or An Abundance of Katherines.

message 4341: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments Odin is from Norse Mythology.

Parang Breaking Dawn lang yan. Everybody geared up for the big war, but in the end, hindi natuloy ang giyera. Boo!

But I like Shadow. and Fat Nancy...?

message 4344: by Tin (new)

Tin (rabbitin) | 560 comments @ Gail and Maria: Halos Norse Myth nga yung nasa American Gods at may konting Egyptian Myth characters gaya nina Mr. Ibis at Mr. Jaquel.

American Gods, Anansi Boys at The Graveyard Book. Lahat ko naman na gustuhan. Gusto kong basahin yung Stardust at Coraline, since okay naman yung movie adaptation sakin. :)

message 4345: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments Tin: I am pleased to hear that you liked American Gods. Very pleased.

message 4346: by Tricia (new)

Tricia (triciuhhh) | 1752 comments American Gods also have african mythology. Anansi Boys is my favorite among Neil Gaiman's books :D I like American God's adventures kahit putol-putol. There are really boring parts in-between. Saka maganda naman yung message niya being the media (like TV, internet, etc) as the new gods and people are starting to forget the real gods (from the mythologies). Cute lang nung battle in the end (if I remember this right! College pa ko nung binasa ko to e hehe)

message 4347: by Tin (new)

Tin (rabbitin) | 560 comments @ K.D.: I am equally pleased that you are pleased. :)

@Tricia: Ay oo. :)

message 4348: by Gail (new)

Naguguluhon ako minsan sa dapat na character ni Shadow but I like him enough.

Anyway, An Abundance of Katherines: Go. Haha
