Marian: Ayn Rand suggested her would-be readers na unahin talaga ang The Fountainhead dahil daw masasagot daw ng Atlas Shrugged ang mga katanungang nilatag niya sa The Fountainhead. And I think TF is more popular than AS. :DCR: Atomised
Angus: TF became popular because it was written first before Atlas Shrugged. And I had this impression that AS is better received than TF, based from the reviews I've read. Probably because the philosophy is easier to understand & the plot is livelier compared to TF. It took me 3 months to finish TF & 3 or 4 days to finish AS.Actually, I only encountered AR from an objectivist/ Randian blogger who recommended me to read AS. But found myself reading TF. =)
WHOAH! 4 days? That's a feat, I tell you. Jzhun mentioned during one of the meet ups that Randian philosophies have been debunked. I still intend to read these two, I just don't know when.I also see references of TF in pop culture. One is when one of the waiters in the movie Dirty Dancing recommended this book to the lead female protagonist.
Debunked by whom? by the socialists? hahahaha! I'm sure. Why was it debunked? probably because its view on capitalism? U.S. boomed because they put high regard on individualism & capitalism. I think Rand's view about sex, love & relationship is beautiful..so real. I think that's one of her strong points.Read it when you think you can accommodate a not so comfortable philosophy, embodied by an eccentric but interesting characters. =)
I'll ask Jzhun more of the debunking. As regards to reading Rand, it's not so much the not so comfortable philosophy as the bulk of the two books combined. Either TF or AS can account for 3-4 "medium" novels. On this Top 100 list, TF ranked 43; AS near the bottom, at 92.
Now reading The Battle of the Labyrinth because I need to have a break from Hunger Games Trilogy. Balak kong bumili ng set nito to read the last book, Mockingjay.Tapusin ko muna itong Percy Series.

As with the list, I don't know. I only observe other peoples reviews. Some of them gave up on TF & I haven't heard anyone giving up on AS.
That's a reassuring thought? LOL. But yes, I haven't given up on a book yet. Oh, I almost did with Tropic of Cancer and A Portrait of an Artist as blah blah.
AJ wrote: "Just received the ebook of Son of Neptune. Stop muna ang Game of Thrones. Hehe."I bought this yday. Matapos ko na ang Ender's Game today, so Son of Neptune na ko mamayang gabi!
is reading Twilight
while it's raining and clouds hang over the sky like that in Bella and Edward's place. (I need some coffee.)I was contemplating that I have been prejudiced about this book due to the darn movie. I hesitated in reading this book when it was in fact, good. The Edward and Bella in the book is far, far better than the movie that made me fall asleep. I apologized for being impartial.

I saw a copy of that book lately and I was at the verge of picking it up, but I decided to buy a movie ticket instead. :D

Sold out ka diyan. :D
Sabi nila it's like the Hunger Games Trilogy.
Sabi nila it's like the Hunger Games Trilogy. Hindi ko pa tapos ang H.G. Pending pa yung Mockingjay kasi may hangover pa ako sa Catching ..."Tama si Maria...i think much better ang Divergent.
but Maria is
better than Divergent, from what I heard?
i love both THG Trilogy and Divergent equally. Their both really good in different scales.Book Elf: I prefer Divergent(5 stars) over Blood Red Road(4.5 stars), but BRR is still commendable. Lemme say na i will read Divergent over and over again, but with BRR, i don't think so.
=) Go on, read it too! It is also a good dystopian book.
Maria wrote: "@Krizia: loove Sookie Stackhouse series. =) Eric Northman! LOL"This is my first time to read it pero di ako nanunuod ng "True Blood" di talaga kasiako nagwawapuhan sa kanya...waaah
@Krizia: huwaaat?!!! Eric Northman is a god! LOL. D ko mashado enjoy ang TruBlood. daming deviations from the book. pero nuod pa din ako, adik eh. hehehe
Done reading The Last Olympian. I think I had enough of Rick Riordan for now. Saka na lang uli.Now reading
Vampires muna. A bullied young boy befriends a young vampire. =)

Enjoying it so much! The only thing I don't like about it is that the book is so heavy to lug around! I can't bring it to work or when going out!
Tricia wrote: "Enjoying it so much! The only thing I don't like about it is that the book is so heavy to lug around! I can't bring it to work or when going out!"Wala kang mass-market paperback?
Though the disadvantage of that is the small font.
