Angus (angusmiranda) | 4337 comments Hi Jim, I'm also out of touch. There isn't a lot of publicity for our local writers (Or I am not really looking). My friend told me that she knows a young poet from UST who recently published a collection of poems. Wait, isn't that you?

Hmmm. I'm not "young" Angus. :) Thanks for thinking so. haha. You might be thinking of Emmanuel Velasco's first book of poetry. He is also a former Atenean. His book is amazing. I highly recommend it. Well, hope you buy mine too eventually. hahahaha.

twstrfries | 231 comments @Isamlq This is the second Marchetta book I read. I fell in love with Saving Francesca and I can't get enough of her characters. :) After this I'll probably read On the Jellicoe Road.

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 122 comments I just finished Freeze by Daniel Pyle and here's my review: http://wp.me/p1CKWU-7a

Now reading on the nook: Leaves of the Fall by Violet Yates and an ARC of The Second Messiah by Glenn Meade .

I decided to put Mistresss Revenge by Tamar Cohen on hold because it's hard to get into.

Angus (angusmiranda) | 4337 comments Hi Jim, I will try to look for your books. I hope they are available locally. I have to admit though that I am not really into poetry (but I do read some poetry, preferably those that don't seem to have a "structure.")

message 2466: by Jim (last edited Jul 15, 2011 04:35AM) (new)

Jim Agustin (jim_pascual_agustin) | 99 comments @Angus, check my blogs for the books to get an idea of my poetry before you buy them. http://www.alientoanyskin.wordpress.com and http://www.karupukan.wordpress.com. There are also sample pages at Scribd.com, just type my full name - Jim Pascual Agustin. Thanks for the interest.

Tell me what you think - either at the blogs, here or by personal message here. There's one review by a young reader from UST that I found so far - and though I don't agree with what she says, she does recommend the Filipino book which she read. Technically I don't really count it as a proper review but a quick read by someone who was given a short deadline. hahaha. Gonna check out the types of books you read.

Jim Agustin (jim_pascual_agustin) | 99 comments Can I ask if any of you guys have good libraries to borrow books from? When I was a student I used to go all the way to The British Council for books that the Ateneo Libraries didn't have - or would never consider buying.

Alibiserver | 221 comments @Jim, I haven't wandered around Manila that much to know what's the good place to borrow books. I have the compulsive desire to own a book. For example, when Tuttle's classics made their way to the UP mindanao library, I got hold of Natsumi souseki's kokoro. tuttle releases are freakingly expensive so I photocopied the book.
