Sarah (sarahbotbonkers) | 24 comments Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro

I feel like I should be bored but I am not. I think that's a good thing.

Anyone who've read the book?

I love Never Let Me Go. It's a quiet book that creeps up on you slowly, and it totally blew my mind at the end. :D

My current read:

Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

There's a character with Filipino parents in the book, but she's not a part of the main group. I am very tempted to skip work just to finish this book. >:D

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments I loved Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go (book and movie).

message 1813: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice | 34 comments Oh, I have to read Never Let Me Go! Sounds really interesting. :) As well as watch the movie, just for the sake of Andrew Garfield ahaha.

message 1814: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments Keira Knightley - but she is not beautiful here. I prefer her in Pride and Prejudice movie.

message 1815: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahbotbonkers) | 24 comments There's a movie? And the actress is Knightley? I've got to watch that. :D

message 1816: by Angus (new)

Angus (angusmiranda) | 4337 comments I love Never Let Me Go too. I plan to reread it once I make a signigicant progress in my reading backlog.

And I like the movie. I don't know how Carey Mulligan pulls that act.

Veneficus (veneficus_) | 277 comments The Knife of Never Letting Go. Halfway through na. Hehe. Haha. Hope matapos Ko na 'to this week. :)

message 1820: by Katherine Y (new)

Katherine Y Singit sa Cassandra Clare. She used to write HP fan fiction, same style and everything. Her books all sound alike (yes, I am a CC dislike-er. hate is such a strong word), and of course they're influenced by HP.

Finished Zombies vs. Unicorns by Holly Black now reading Dune (Dune Chronicles, #1) by Frank Herbert before I watch the movie then play the game

She was in the movie, play it like Beckham (i hope i got the movie title right) i think it was her first movie. it was a good movie, i think it was an indiefilm.

She was also in An Education, which got her an Oscar nomination last year (I think). And she has a lovely face!

message 1826: by Ranee (new)

Ranee | 1902 comments I've yet to see that film, but I think we have a copy of it somewhere... i'll go look for it hehe.
Aside from books, my sister and I love watching interesting films and hunting for them in Quiapo. (This is also the reason why I still don't have a copy of the film adaptation of Norwegian Wood.)

That's why I'm reading the book! I want to watch the movie! :)

message 1833: by Veneficus (new)

Veneficus (veneficus_) | 277 comments done with The Knife of Never Letting Go! I loved it. Whoa. One of the best books I've ever read. Parang gusto Ko ng umpisahan yung pangalawa. Hehe. Pero, na-curious Ako diyan sa Never Let Me Go, dystopian ang genre, for sure maganda. :)

message 1834: by K.D. (new)

Ang "Never Let Me Go" ay well-written, classy, poignant, sad, dark, surreal, shocking at will make you reflect on your life.

Ang mas malapit sa "Never" ay "Unwind." I will never forget that scene. Nightmarish.

message 1835: by Veneficus (new)

Veneficus (veneficus_) | 277 comments ah thanks K.D. Idadagdag Ko sa 'books-to-read' list Ko. Until now, 'di pa din maka-recover sa 'Knife'. Grabe ang galing ni Patrick Ness. I shed a tear kay Manchee. Poor Manchee. That ruddy good dog. :(

message 1836: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments Veneficus, let's be reading buddies for Books 2 & 3 of "Knife" I have the copy of those but still have no motivation to read them. Magagalit na ang hiniraman ko ha ha.

What say you?

message 1837: by Maria (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments hay... dahil nalungkot ako sa City of Fallen Angels magbabasa muna ako ng dystopia. i'll start with Unwind :)

message 1838: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments Good pick, Maria. "Unwind" is really awesome!

message 1839: by Joyzi (new)

Nakakaturn-off lang yung Never Let Me Go, the characters just accepted their fate, I'm waiting for a resistance e.

message 1840: by Joyzi (new)

Joyzi (joit) | 1768 comments Yung The Island pala ay movie yun, yung Unwind ay book and soon to be a movie na rin.

message 1841: by K.D. (last edited Apr 14, 2011 03:36AM) (new)

message 1842: by Joyzi (new)

message 1848: by Maria (last edited Apr 14, 2011 05:04PM) (new)

Maria (mariasm) | 2441 comments KD! don't tempt me to read right now (i'm at the office heehee)!

i just finished the scene where they boarded the bus (w/ excess baggage *wink*) and Connor and Risa are talking to a student-mother. :)

message 1849: by K.D. (new)

K.D. Absolutely (oldkd) | 6065 comments Ah, you are still pages away from the scene!
Oh please tell me once you get there. I am so excited to know your reaction ha ha!

message 1850: by Joyzi (new)
