"See ya tomorrow." Matt calls after her. He glances at Aidan. "So, whataya think?" Matt asks, gesturing to his dorm. It's completely empty, except for the chest in the corner. The walls are littered with drawings, both on paper and the wall itself.

"The floor." Matt answers. He shrugs, "I know, I know. That's extremely odd. Truth is, my parents weren't all that rich and couldn't afford a bed. So, I slept on the floor. Nowadays, I find beds extremely uncomfortable."

Matt nods. "Trains, eh? Why not airplanes?" He says with a smirk. "I woulda gone for the high flyers."

Matt laughs. "Good point." He imitates a stewardess' voice. "Destination reached, jump now." He laughs harder.

"Yeah?" Matt asks. He can tell there's something on his friend's mind. "Got a question, bro? There's nothin but question marks over your head."

"Ah." Matt says smiling. "Yeah, she makes a guy think a bunch, doesn't she." He sounds to sound carefree about it, when in truth he's a bit jealous.

"Yeah. Kinda. Not really sure." Matt says. Although he's absolutely sure. He'd been working on the Heart Landscape in honor of Alex for two days now. "Why?" He tries to sound teasing. "Do you?"
Matt raised an eyebrow. "You do, don't you?" He squints as he thinks. "Well. We can't let this effect our friendship. So we'll be men about this and settle it like gentlemen." He grins. "Arm wrestle?"

Matt chuckles. "Yeah, she wouldn't like that." He nods. "Thanks man." He holds out a fist. "We're brothers now, since we both liked the same girl and stayed friends." He laughs.

Matt lifts an eyebrow. "You know, I bet you'd do pretty well with that Veronica chick." He turns to straighten a sketch. "She really had eyes on you when we were at the river."

Matt laughs. "Maybe you should get to know her." He suggests. "She seems a bit like the delicate type, so she might be a bit of a tough nut to crack." He says, starting to ramble. "I asked around a bit when I first saw her, and as it turns out, she's pretty great." He tacks another picture up. "Not that i like her or anything... I just, you know." He shrugs, then grins. "But that was before I met Alex, and I'm pretty sure she's somethin special. Not to get ahead of myself or nothin..." He takes a deep breath. "Sorry. My mind's just going a million thoughts a minute, and I can't stop talking."
((lol. Yeah. Hey! what about Eva!))
((lol. Yeah. Hey! what about Eva!))
Matt grins. "Yup." He pulls his sketchbook out of his pack. "I've been working on this sketch for some time now, and I want to give it to Alex when I'm finished. It's called the Heart Landscape." He flips to it, and shows it to Aidan. It's a bright landscape, lit up by a heart instead of a sun.
((:P That would suck. XD I'd have Matt turn to be a sad sob story, silent and artistic for the rest of his life. XD))
Matt shuts the sketchbook. "Thanks, bro." He beams as he moves around the room, tacking up various pictures. "Hey. It's late, I should probably get to sleep. Don't want to be late for classes..."
((gtg. Seeya tomorrow!))
((gtg. Seeya tomorrow!))
Matt hurries into his room, slamming the door behind him. *Dang... That was embarrassing.* He looks at the slip of paper in his hands. It has a phone number on it, and a heart. He thinks of calling it. "No," He says allowed. "I'm going out with Alex." He winces. "Well, I will." He shreds the paper, and tosses it out the window.
Matt walks into his dorm, shutting the door quietly. He plops down on the floor, and the ferrets explore his small room. Shadow immediately comes back and chatters angrily. "Yeah, yeah. I don't have much, sorry." He walks over to the chest and pulls out a rubber ball. "How's that?" Shadow grabs the ball and runs to the middle of the room. Light follows, and they begin to play with it.
After watching the ferrets play for about half an hour, Matt gets bored. "This is nuts. I've already drawn you guys twice!" He goes over to the wall, and lifts two sketches to reveal four neat drawings of Light and Shadow. The ferrets watch him pace back and forth. Matt thinks, then finally decides. "Come on, we're gonna go find Alex." He picks the ferrets up, and Light resumes her normal spot, while Shadow climbs to the top of Matt's head.
((light's a girl ftr. Theyre brother and sister))
((ah. Alrighty. XD Editing...))
Matt hurries into his dorm, a dazed look in his eyes. He shuts the door quietly, and sits on the floor, staring at his sketches. He's oddly calm. *Ah, well.* He thinks. *Aidan's a better match for Alex anyway. I got my hopes up too far. There ain't a way she would've been happy with me.* He sits there for a long time, staring at the picture he'd drawn of Alex. It was a copy of the one he'd given her. He stands, and takes it off the wall. He opens the chest and tosses it in.
Alex runs up to Matt's dorm. She doesn't bother knocking. She just sets his book down at the door and runs off. She had a feeling he was upset with her.
Matt walks to his dorm from Aidan's. He finds his sketch book on the floor in front of his door. His stomach twists into a knot again. *Alex.* He thinks. He picks it up, and heads inside. *Idiot.* Matt says. *Be a man about it. Go to her and ask her who she likes. Don't just run away like an idiot every time something happens.* He stands tall. *Yeah. I'll do that.* He puffs his chest out a bit. *But what if she does like Aidan...* He falters. *Guess there's only one way to find out.* He heads for Alex's dorm.
Matt enters his dorm. His heart is torn. He doesn't know what to do. Alex hates Aidan and Ruby, but Matt feels no regret, no hostility. Should he? Matt searches deep inside him, but he can't find any negative feelings towards the two. He sighs. "Dang." He wishes he wouldn't be in the chair. Maybe then Alex wouldn't hate Aidan and Ruby. Matt bites his lips. *Maybe I could just try...* He thinks.
((XD))
Matt applies the breaks to his chair, and sits there, thinking about it. He bends his back a little, and pain flies through his body. He grits his teeth, and uses his hands to lift himself up. He's finally up and on his feet.

((Matt was always a bit stubbron. ;P XD))
Matt stands there, trying to build up the strength to take a step. He takes a breath, and tries to shift his weight to one leg. His leg buckles and he falls, a shout escaping his lips. Pain flows through his body, and it's simply too much. He slips from consciousness.

((XD He's unconcious... He'll come to in an hour or so.))
Matt snaps to, and tries to stand. Pain burns along his spine, and he remembers what happened. His breathing becomes labored, and he lies there for a bit, calming. He uses his hands to push himself up again. He drags himself over to his chair. When he reaches it, a flashback flies through his vision. Fire. Screams. Matt drops, clutching his head. He screams, willing the memory to go away.
