Each number corresponds with the spot on the board.
For colors: The cover has to be at least 50%
For locations: As long as the book takes part at all in the given location .
For Shelves: Any book on the given shelf
For Publication Years: I'll be using how GR has it's publication date listed.
For Authors Names: The first, middle, or last name of the author is ok.
For Titles: Only the first word of the title. A, An, And, and The do not count.
So if the letter is B: The Best Day would be ok. Dear Betty would not be ok.

Woohoo - Team 1 - The One's to beat for sure. I recognize some of you and am really looking forward to this challenge with all of you. A little bit about myself to introduce myself. I am recently retired after 36 years as a respiratory therapist. I am married 40 years this year to a great guy and since my retirement my new job is reading.
I did the 2 book per week SSS challenge last time and was captain of a great team and would be glad to volunteer to be captain again unless someone else really wants to do it.
I am very excited to get this challenge started because I really need to make some progress on my 100 plus series I have in play. Only problem is after reading everyone's reviews of their books than I want to read those as well - sigh.

I'm fine with Sheila being captain - I have a small oral surgery next Wednesday and might be offline a couple of days so its best if I'm not captain this time.

an endontist is a specialist in root canals.
Hi Sheila and Lauren!! I didn't receive a message about what team I was on but knew the teams were being picked. I work full time in a local school district. I was married for 20 years but am currently going through a divorce. I have a dog and cat that cuddle with me when I read.I have a few series I am currently reading and would like to finish. Plus some that I want to start. I may even read some alternates.
Sheila I am fine with you being captain. I know I don't have the time. This is the first time I have done Super Series.

Nice to meet you Monica. Sorry to hear about your divorce. My son and dil just called it quits after 13 years. They have 2 boys caught in the middle age 4 and 10. Very sad.I've already had the root canal X 2 but at least now I know what an endodontist is haha!
This should be a fun challenge. I did the 2 book/week version last round and that was more of a squeeze.
Hopefully Turtlecollector and Book Concierge will check in later.

Sorry to hear about your son and dil. I was lucky that my children were older when we first started the separation. My daughter was just graduating high school and my son was a junior. It is hard on everyone. Glad that you don't have to get another root canal.I don't think I could do the 2 books a week unless I do audio books. I am excited too. I have books to read but don't want to start anything until this starts.

@Sheila - I've never had a root canal. It sounds painful. My surgery is for a cyst on the jaw bone not a tooth but it is my first general anesthetic.
Looking forward to reading some good books to get my mind off it :0)
Here is my "baby" Kassan. Her thing is she absolutely doesn't want to be ignored and she will pester me until I am petting her AND reading. If I stop petting she will let me know.

Hi Turtlecollector! I hope you are feeling better. Sorry that your trip got cancelled.Lauren, At first the divorce was hard but now I just want the whole ordeal over with. It is just taking too long.
My cuddle buddy is a beagle basset mix and her name is Samantha. I will have to post a picture when I am at home. I have to cuddle buddies. My cat will also lay with me and he is the one that wants to be petted. My dog is just fine with sitting next to me or curling up on my lap.
I will look at the pictures when I am at home because I can't access photobucket on here.
Nice to see you TC. I've been down with some kind of stomach thing the last couple of days as well. It sure makes me appreciate when I'm not sick! Sorry you missed your grandpa's BIG 90!OK so is everyone OK with The One's to Beat? If so I'll let Jenne know.

Great team name!I'm Tessa (or BC) ... married, no kids, no pets. Grew up in Texas but came to Wisconsin to attend Marquette University at the very young age of 17 and fell in love with winter weather! Have lived in Wisconsin for more than twice as long as I ever lived in Texas (though still consider myself a Texan).
I really need to get going on doing some planning for this. I don't read many series, mostly stand alones, so I have to be sure I have enough to cover all the rolls from 2-12 just in case ....

Glad to meet you BC. I have been looking at the alternate choices. They are really good just in case I don't have a series book to read. My issue is I don't like to read series out of order. Actually I am kind of OCD about it. ha!As captain I have a request. After I roll on Fridays and you check in and announce what book you are going to read that week could you put you review post in the same post by just editing your post? That way I can link everything up ahead of time. Clear as mud??

I can definitely just update my original book post.I live in Oregon and was just going to comment on how we have been really dry here and there is conversation about declaring a drought. I just peeked out my window, though, and there is actually a light snow falling.
I like visiting Wisconsin at Christmas time for the snow, but am glad I don't have to deal with it the whole season. My dad is from WI and I have lots of family there.
Hi Tessa (BC)!! Great to meet you. I am in Snowy Pennsylvania. Due for a wintery mix late tonight into Wed. morning. I am hoping for a 2 hour delay for work tomorrow. I have a lot of series that I would like to start but never take the time too. I am hoping that maybe some will fit into the alternate categories. I too hate to read series out of order especially if I know the order of them.
I am trying to finish the Sookie series and I am on number 11 and don't plan to start until after the game gets started.
I can update my original post for the review. Is there a certain way you want the posts? Also if I am at home I can figure out my books faster. I don't own all the books in my library and don't want to choose one if I can't get it at my library, or through my kindle library or on Overdrive.
I think I need to take some time to get a list together of books for possible reads.
Don't you absolutely love the kindle/overdrive deal with the library Monica. I think I have something 6 kindle books checked out right now. Love that instant gratification. haha. I read a ton of books but have yet to actually buy one. I'm a big fan of audiobooks as well.Nope don't need any special format for your reviews. I think Jenne likes a link to the book, date finished, rating and a short blurb/review of the book.
Just knowing ahead of time what post your review is in helps me get it all linked up ahead of time for when we all finish our books.
I like the Sookie books too and love them on audiobook. The narrator is great with the southern accents.
I love Overdrive. I try to get the audio books on there if possible. It can take me more then a week to actually read some books and the audio just makes it go faster. I have so many books on my kindle that I haven't paid for. Any free book and I download it.

Friday at (what time?) Sheila will roll the dice and post our position number. Let's say it 7 ... we then can read either book #7 of a series or the alternate for that spot (Location: Arizona for spot # 7).
So I immediately post a response to the announcement of where we are on the board with my plan - e.g. I'm going to read Hot in Phoenix for the alternate ... And then come back to that post to complete my review/rating when I'm done.
Do I have that right?

Sounds good to me but you don't have to decide immediately. I'll probably roll before 9 am Central time but since I am a horrible insomniac it could be 2 am who knows. It is just reassuring to the team that everyone logs in and acknowledges that they know what the new position is going to be. Then when you decide what book you are going to read just post a link to it so we can all see what you are reading. You got that exactly right BC. If the roll were say 10 you could then read a book 1 in a series, a stand alone book for the 0 or book 10 in a series or alternative read # 10. 2010. Lots of choices and then you just enjoy your book and post your review and rating before the following Friday.
I think this challenge is really fun and I usually add more books than I delete because I enjoy seeing what each teammate thought of their books.
Okay ... I either have on hand, or have requested at library books for every possible alternate for any roll from 2 through 12 ... all set for this Friday!re Standalones ... I think anytime there is a #1 or a #0 in the roll we can use a stand alone also ... so for #11 or #12 we could also use a standalone. (i.e. one that may not necessarily fit the "alternate" category for that spot).
That's right BC. If you're spot has a 1 or 0 in it standalones are a-ok :)
You sound like you are all ready to go BC. I'm not quite that organized but I use the kindle book lending feature from the library all the time so I'm pretty sure whatever I roll I can find and get instantly. I LOVE that feature. I have something like 10 kindle books loaded and ready to go.
I've got to admit that I am revving my engines getting ready for the game to start. vrooom
Question about rolling .... must it be the captain?I see other teams are trying to have whoever is up and active closes to midnight do the roll for the team.
I know this won't make much difference early in the game, but towards the end it might affect who can finish first.
Sheila and I are both in Central Time Zone, and since I'm still working there's no way I'll be up and active on the computer at 12.01 a.m. Central time tomorrow morning (tonight).
Do we have anyone on the West Coast (for whom it would be just after 10:00pm tonight? Or better yet, anyone in Europe or Asia?
It doesn't have to be the captain who rolls of the team wants to delegate a person, schedule etc. and really and truly it doesn't give a team an advantage since to win the whole team has to finish.
I'm in Israel and it will be around 8:00 AM my time. I'm going to work early tomorrow but I can post around 9:30 or 10:00 my time (2 AM Central).
I have insomnia and will probably be the first to be up anyway so I would rather just take care of the rolling. It doesn't really matter until the very end when it is first team done wins.
You midwest and east coast people jinxed me here! We are getting a snowstorm now, predicted up to 8 in by tomorrow morning and another storm coming on Sat. I know it is nothing like you, but people here are not anywhere as prepared as some of you are for any amount of snow. My father taught me to drive in snow since he is from the midwest, but I still tend to walk instead of drive to avoid everyone else.
TC sorry to jinx you.. I love snow but also hate to drive in it. At least you are getting snow. We had a wintry mix and some areas received a lot of ice. Many people without power and some won't get it back until the weekend. So far we are only getting some small storms this weekend. It is smart to walk instead of driving. Well I am getting revved up too Sheila! I have a book club book I need to finish by the 19th and would like to finish it earlier.

I'm pushing hard to finish one of my current reads tonight so I will be ready to go. Now I have gotten waylaid by watching Olympics ice skating though.
Me too. I was watching the Olympics and not reading. I'm taking off tomorrow to watch my daughter's dog while she works so will hopefully get a lot of reading done tomorrow.
