Henry Martin (henrymartin) Last night I watched a wonderful documentary about a singer from Senegal who ended up living in Germany. The documentary focused a little on her life and struggle as an immigrant, but mostly concentrated on her wonderful mission to bring attention to FGC, which is still practiced in Senegal, among other places.

Her band volunteered their time, and after they raised enough money to pay for travel expenses, they went to Senegal, performing at villages and bringing to taboo topic of FGC to the open forum.

It was well done, and I'm happy to recommend it.

Henry Martin (henrymartin) On one front, it is disturbing (the FGC practice as a whole), while on the front front it is uplifting (her fight against it and the results, especially in her hometown, by the very people who did it to her).
