Finished Path of the Sun and decided to revisit a classic -- King Solomon's Mines by H. Rider Haggard.

I would like to note that I did like Shadowrise, though it may not have sounded it. It's just that it's not going to make people love the Shadowmarch series if they don't already.

I did enjoy them, but someone who isn't grabbed in the first volume won't find anything to redeem them in later books.
Shari Kay wrote: "Reading
jury is out on this one...having trouble finding a character I like enough to connect to. Only 22% in."I was the same for about half the book but it does improve towards the end.

I haven't finished the second one...it's not that I'm not enjoying it, I"m just finding myself easily distracted by other books. You know what I mean? I feel compelled to finish series once I've started them, but all these other great books are seducing me away.
I was on a road trip & picked up random books on cd from the library. Only one was fantasy & I was not at all impressed by it: The Rule of Nines by Terry Goodkind. I had forgotten that I'd tried him before with Sword of Truth. Luckily, a bunch of Terry Pratchett had arrived for me when I returned to town. I'm also reading several Neil Gaiman's for book clubs & pleasure.

. It did get better the last half...not sure if it was enough to continue to book 2 and the novellas though."I know exactly what you mean. I found it a poor copy of a Sanderson novel if I am honest.
Finished King Solomon's Mines -- still excellent!, read a couple of Allan Quatermain short stories, then decided that it was time for something from Angry Robot (since I took advantage of their 100 books for £100 recently) and chose The Dead of Winter by Lee Collins -- based on the first few pages, it seems like it'll be an Old West version of Supernatural or some such.
Curently reading some non fantasy (Kate Atkinsons Jackson Brodie books) then I have sci fi ready in the form of Dust ( Wool omnibus bk 3) then I hope to swing back to fantasy.
I read The Wandering Fire, then The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms now on The Great Gatsby (which has Leonardo DiCaprio's voice in my head).
Helen wrote: "I read The Wandering Fire, then The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms now on The Great Gatsby (which has Leonardo DiCaprio's voice in my head)."I love the Wandering Fire and the others in the series.
I finished The Dead of Winter and am looking forward to more late 19th Century monster-slaying goodness (think Supernatural meets Deadwood. But with less cussing) with She Returns From War, both by Lee Collins.
Now I'm reading:

It's unusual for me read more books at time, but in this case they are crossed.
Michelle Snicket wrote: "InterWorld sounds...interestimg LOL."Yes. I read the first 20%, more or less, and is a story full of imagination and adventure.
Read
this month. For those of you old enough to remember the 80s and more so those who spent some of the childhood or early adult life there, this novel may have some nostalgic appeal. Now I'm reading an oldie
.

Wrapped up She Returns From War and am heading in a more cyberpunk direction with Richard K. Morgan's Altered Carbon.
Gunshot Road, reading for two challenges; around the world and author a-z. It's not bad but the unnecessary swearing is starting to bug me. It isn't that I never swear just that I don't expect it in my books. Some is quite graphic too.
Im reading
at the moment then i am going to move on to
then im getting people to give me recomendations
I finished Spritzerville,...Ohio? last night, it was really funny. Now I'm reading a middle-grade book, The Broken Path (Survivors #4).

I second that emotion. No fair!!!! ;)
I just finished reading Dryad-Born by Jeff Wheeler. It's book 2 of his Whispers From Mirrowen series. It was fantastic! I read his (Jeff Wheeler) Muirwood series which I also loved! He's a very good writer and one I highly recommend. I just started M. K. Hume's Warrior of the West. It's book 2 in the King Arthur trilogy.
Finished The Ambassador's Mission and The Rogue by Canavan, as well as a re-read of Harry Potter 1 for my book club. Now I'm re-reading The Way of Kings before I finish up the last Traitor Spy book while waiting for Words of Radiance and Murder of Crows to arrive next week.

Amazon Preordering sends books typically 1 day earlier than release date. I don't know how that came to more than one week earlier.
But I try to share my early impressions (eg HC vs ebook) in my review.
i had to give up on The Republic of Thieves, it wasnt enjoyable at all and reminded me a lot of The Name of the Wind, which i didnt enjoy. Now reading Wyrd Sisters and Conquerors' Heritage
Andreas wrote: "Amazon Preordering sends books typically 1 day earlier than release date. I don't kn..."You are now included in my blanket of hate for anyone who has the book already.(Not actually serious fyi.)
Im doing a malazan book of the fallen re-read starting with gardens of the moon. It should be fun i havent read this series in a few years.
I'm reading The Evolution of Reptilian Handbags and Other Stories|20653370] A wonderful collection of magic realism short stories. I'm down to the last story and sad it will be over.
Ian wrote: "Im doing a malazan book of the fallen re-read starting with gardens of the moon. Or I can set up a thread if you are interested to get you startef? A kind of Malazan buddy read?
Manju wrote: "I'm in for Malazan buddy read :D:D"Good stuff, once Ian replies we can get it set up if there is interest.
Shari Kay wrote: "I'm enjoying it..but I keep having to resist the urge to flip ahead! Only because he keeps changing the focus between characters that I need to know what happened to now, not long chapters later. "At least there aren't too many character POVs yet, but you're right some of the sections are pretty long. I'm about halfway through, going pretty quickly. I thought it might take forever.
I love WoK for that reason. There's only 4 primary characters that the POV switches between. It's better than say, WoT where you might have 15 character POVs in a book and have to wait 600 pages to get back around to the character you want to read.
Finishing my pre-spring cleaning by reading another dusty old book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. Great read so far.
Ian wrote: "yes i say hell yes finally some appreciation for malazan sounds like fun"Ok you got it. Leave it with me and I will put up a thread. Book1 .
