Okay - I also borrowed this from the library, but as an e-book, which is going to expire in about 10 days -- suppose I'll start with this one...even though "It" has me totally drawn in. :-)
Chapter 11 complete...
I'm really enjoying this! I've been in a bit of a reading funk & this is pulling me out of it quick.
"I Am Legend" feel so far but from a teenage girls perspective. Cass is hilarious & her description of how the world has changed after the wave has made me more aware of all the little things that get overlooked. For instance, the constant hum of the world.
One thing i'm having trouble with is the time frame everything is happening. How many months, years has this been going on? Maybe it tightens up later on or maybe I just missed it

Ok. Patient is skipping her appointment so I'm starting it now! My e-loan doesn't do page numbers for some reason. It's this 3M cloud library. But I think I'm on chapter 5. Getting drawn in!
Chapter 35: interesting to get these alternate point of view chapters. I'm still totally off balance and don't know who to trust!
Chapter 25:
tug out the heart! what Cass experienced really flipped the switch on my humanity. It's been awhile since I"ve read something that's touched me emotionally.
The different perspectives are interesting but so far it feel like they all have the same voice. the dry, deadpan, sarcasm. NOt sure how I feel about that.

YES - I agree re: each person having the same voice. I have to say - I'm drawn in and I'm enjoying the book, but I have read (and watched in movies and on TV) better-written post-apocalyptic stuff. It is keeping me engrossed, though.
I think, similar to The Road, they mean for us not to quite know a time frame either. Keeps us less balanced and more in the moment the characters are living in.
Chapter 35:
OK so we have Cass, Ben, the Silencer & Evan. Just going out on a limb here but i think Evan is the Silencer
but i'm ok if i'm wrong in fact I hope i am

Okay - I've finished the book, just a day before the loan ran out! :-) I found myself skimming a bit during some of the later action scenes (you all know I often check out during action scenes!) and it started feeling mroe and more YA in that I got the sense that they're just rushing closer and closer to uniting the oh-so-necessary love triangle all these books seem to have. I'll wait for others to finish before I say anything more. Enjoyable, and an interesting premise. Who to trust? I may read book 2. But I guess I'll have to move on to our other February read, because that came in from the library pretty quickly too! :-)
Book #2 is not out yet as this is the first book in the trilogy. Read this one about 2-3 months ago and I really enjoyed it. I am getting tired of the inevitable 3-way love triangle that is getting to be the norm in YA. Maybe it always has been and I just do not read enough of it???
Yeah, I'm not exactly waiting with eager and tortured anticipation for book 2. :-) Always seems to be the formula: insecure girl, crazy supernatural/apocalyptic experience, discovers her inner badassery, two guys fall for her. I see why it's appealing to most young women, but I'm getting tired of this particular YA formula.
Chapter 41
Still an interesting read but I see the formula unfolding. I think perhaps I"m growing past this genre or authors need to step their games up

LOL, I thought the same thing -- maybe my YA guilty pleasure has run its course -- but I really actually do think that authors need to step up their games. Seriously. BUT, if you read the reviews (written by tweens and teens), they are intensely immersed in these love triangles! So maybe the authors are just smart and want to make a buck.
(I'm not reading any comments until I'm caught up.)
I'm reading the hardcover edition on loan from the library.
I'm on page 37, Chapter 7.
I'm enjoying the book so far but I'm not hooked. I don't have that "can't stop reading/I wonder what's next" feeling. Still early in the game, I know.
More thoughts soon.

Second what Lilybeth said, but I just started. Will be done by this weekend. Happy New Year everyone! I know I'm late lol.
Chapter 26
Still not emotionally invested.
I'm on to the 1st new perspective. Some guy.
Seems like the aliens are dormant in humans until they're "awaken". All of a sudden I feel like I'm reading Scientology YA.

Guys, I'm bored with this book. Does it get better?? I'm on Chapter 28 (I think).
New narrator pressed the button to blow Chris up. I felt nothing. Was I supposed to feel something?
I'm just reading words. I'm not connecting with anything. It could be because I'm not a fan of the whole aliens thing. Never have been. I don't know...

Chapter 38
Now we have Sammy's narration.
Just before that Evan and Cassie were kissing. Am I the only one that thought that entire scene was contrived and ridiculous? I am so not connecting with anything in this book.
Is it me?
The book?
Both?
LOL

Meh, I enjoyed it well enough while I was reading it but, as I mentioned, I ended up skimming to some extent. It wasn't my favorite YA book ever. It got so formulaic.
Chapter 53
267 pages in and we're still setting things up. UGH! I think I give up on this. I have 5 other books waiting to be read.
