One of the things I am enjoying most about this reading challenge group is that I am reading books outside my usual genres and finding some real gems along the way. This is a case in point. It is a YA book about coming of age in the 30s--a romance, as well. The narrator is a 17 year old girl, part of an eccentric family living in poverty in a crumbling old castle in Suffolk. She wants to be a writer and describes their daily life in her journal.
This was a good read; gave it 4 stars. I'm sorry I didn't read it earlier in my life.
