Long ago, an evil being by the name of Shash had risen to power, armies of dark creatures at his side. Shash was once an Elf--a highly respected one. But respect was not enough...Shash wanted power, all the power the land of Aldon had to offer. The Elf knew of a way to gain this power, and he wasted no time in setting his plan for domination into action. Shash set out to obtain the the Tablet of Statera. This particular relic is said to be a myth by most, but the Tablet of Statera had once existed and was the source of balance amongst the magic of Aldon.

The tablet had carved out spots for sixteen different 'objects of power', each spot specific to the object. These objects were the rarest of gemstones and had magic fused into them. The magic the gems held were from across Aldon and when they were all present on the tablet, the magic of Aldon would be in balance and in a form of harmony would exist amongst species and beings. However, balance is a delicate thing and can easily be swayed. Shash managed to not only find the hidden chamber the Tablet was kept in, but also managed to take it into his own hands.

The Tablet is neutral when not in the hands of good or evil, but when taken into the possession of either, the tablet's power shifts to that of the holder. No one is pure, thus if anyone held the tablet there would be a chance of evil coming forth from deep within, thus why the tablet had been locked away and kept in solitude so balance may remain in Aldon. But when the Tablet felt Shash's evil intentions, the tranquility of Aldon began to dissipate and the rise of evil came forth. Forests grew dark and held dangerous creatures, species began to indulge in greater sin, and war broke loose. As for Shash, the Tablet granted him what he desired: pure power.

However, the power that manifested in him altered his being, changing him from a noble and graceful Elf into a sinister and dark one. The light elements of nature became unharnassable to Shash, refusing him usage of the 'good' magic of the world. This enraged the Dark Elf, so he decided that he would flood the lands in evil so no energy would not be under his command. Soon enough, Aldon had been plagued by evil. Even the good souls of Aldon began to corrupt. Some say that it was during the Dark Era that the Dragon Masters and Dragons along with several other species had depleted greatly in numbers. They plunged into war blindly in attempts to satisfy the strong new dark desires for power within them.

The Dark Era lasted for a century's time, all goodness in Aldon being forced to either flee the lands or take to hiding. Numerous beings had been taken by darkness, even some of the Elves. Hope was barely a concept at this point. However, the right hand of Shash, a Dark Elf by the name of Altas, had stood as second for too long. The call of the Tablet of Statera was too much for him to withstand. Altas went after the Tablet and a war amongst the Kingdom Shash had built began, all the evil beings having one thing in mind: power. His empire began to crumble, and this was the chance that the remaining good in the world had been waiting for. An army of various species was brought to the door of Shash's empire. After one of the most gruesome and epic battles of the history of Aldon, good somehow managed to succeed.

Shash and his remaining warriors were put into a prison and sealed away using the magic of the tablet, making it so only the tablet could open and release those evils. But everyone wished to ensure that was never a possibility. The Tablet of Statera was obtained by good. The Tablet's objects of power were given to a sixteen trustworthy individuals, and the tablet was broken into three pieces. The pieces of the tablet were then distributed across Aldon to ensure the tablet never be put back together and used for evil. Of course this meant that balance was now truly in the hands of those who lived in Aldon. After thousands upon thousands of years, Aldon had recovered and the true tale of Shash and the Tablet of Statera became only a folktale.

But the Seal has grown old and bits of evil have managed to seep free. This evil has began to slowly take back Aldon with the plans of eventually reforming the Tablet of Statera to break the seal in full and release Shash.

The Tablet of Statera held in it sixteen objects of power. But the objects were removed from the tablet and the tablet broken into thirds. The first piece has space for five of the objects, the second six, and the third five.
