SEARCHING FOR A VESSEL
The Master was searching for a vessel to use;
On the shelf there were many - which one would He choose?
Take me, cried the gold one, I'm shiny and bright,
I'm of great value and I do things just right.
My beauty and lustre will outshine the rest
And for someone like You, Master, gold would be the best!
The Master passed on with no word at all;
He looked at a silver urn, narrow and tall;
I'll serve You, dear Master, I'll pour out Your wine
And I'll be at Your table whenever You dine,
My lines are so graceful, my carvings so true,
And my silver will always compliment You.
Unheeding the Master passed on to the brass,
It was widemouthed and shallow, and polished like glass.
Here! Here! cried the vessel, I know I will do,
Place me on Your table for all men to view.
Look at me, called the goblet of crystal so clear,
My transparency shows my contents so dear,
Though fragile am I, I will serve You with pride,
And I'm sure I'll be happy in Your house to abide.
The Master came next to a vessel of wood,
Polished and carved, it solidly stood.
You may use me, dear Master, the wooden bowl said,
But I'd rather You used me for fruit, not for bread!
Then the Master looked down and saw a vessel of clay.
Empty and broken it helplessly lay.
No hope had the vessel that the Master might choose,
To cleanse and make whole, to fill and to use.
Ah! This is the vessel I've been hoping to find,
I will mend and use it and make it all Mine.
I need not the vessel with pride of its self;
Nor the one who is narrow to sit on the shelf;
Nor the one who is big-mouthed and shallow and loud;
Nor one who displays his contents so proud;
Not the one who thinks he can do all things just right;
But this plain earthy vessel filled with My power and might.
Then gently He lifted the vessel of clay.
Mended and cleansed it and filled it that day.
Spoke to it kindly. There's work you must do,
Just pour out to others as I pour into you.

THE KING'S HIGHWAY
Once upon a time, a king had a great highway built for the people who lived in his kingdom. After it was completed, but before it was opened to the public, the king decided to have a contest. He invited as many of his subjects as desired to participate. The challenge was to see who could travel the highway the best, and the winner was to receive a box of gold.
On the day of the contest, all the people came. Some of them had fine chariots, some had fine clothing and fancy food to make the trip a luxurious journey. Some wore their sturdiest shoes and ran along the highway on their feet to show their skill. All day they traveled the highway, and each one, when he arrived at the end, complained to the king about a large pile of rocks and debris that had been left almost blocking the road at one point, and that got in their way and hindered their travel.
At the end of the day, a lone traveler crossed the finish line warily and walked over to the king. He was tired and dirty, but he addressed the king with great respect and handed him a small chest of gold. He said, "I stopped along the way to clear a pile of rocks and debris that was blocking the road. This chest of gold was under it all. Please have it returned to its rightful owner."
The king replied, "You are the rightful owner."
"Oh no," said the traveler, "This is not mine. I've never known such money."
"Oh yes," said the king, "you've earned this gold, for you won my contest. He who travels the road best is he who makes the road better for those who will follow."
Remember those words of wisdom as you travel the road of life!

I love this story, Urs. I'll been studying both fables and short stories for school this year. I love how they can drive in one simple little truth so impactfully.
Thanks for sharing so often in this thread :) You've left a goldmine of encouragement for all of us.

This is one of my favorites Aerykah :)
Never judge anyone. You don't know their story. You don't know the battles they've had to fight.
Instead, walk beside them and be their friend.

Yes, indeedy! That is exactly what I told my son while he was growing up! I thank the Lord for His guidance with raising my son. ♥

Amen! Knowing that is what keeps me going every day!

Hi Rachel,
He is truly wonderful! I just don't know what people do without Him and His amazing grace! Correction. Yes I do--they are hopelessly lost and without God in this world, but don't really know it. And because of the deceptive force of sin, don't care. But one thing is certain, all men will be held accountable as to what they did with God's son and His holy word.
Along that same line, I would like to share a few of my favorite passages.
John 12:35 "Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you.
Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth."
John 12:42-50"Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on Him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on Me, believeth not on Me, but on Him that sent Me.
And he that seeth Me seeth Him that sent Me.
I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not abide in darkness.
And if any man hear My words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
For I have not spoken of Myself; but the Father which sent Me, He gave Me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that His commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto Me, so I speak."
I hope you all at Real Christian's have a blessed week!
With the love of Christ,

Aw, Sweetie, I am sorry about that, but you have the right attitude! Just keep praising and sharing Jesus in the best ways you know how! He is mighty and wonderful to be praised! :D

Ok :) I know that God is always on my side even when some people might not be. I'll continue to share the truth. On the bright side, one of my friends has told me that my Christian posts are an inspiration for her :)

You are being obedient to the Lord--you can't go wrong! :)

Thanks :) I appreciate your encouragement.

Always, Sweetie! :)
