GJS | 27 comments I was working on the Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt while reading the following. Haven't finished ER yet but love it. Someone on this board read it and loved it so much I picked it up! I partially read two others but don't list them until they are done.

Columbine

Wow! This was incredible. I wasn't sure I was going to be able to read it but it was fantastic. The research done was phenomenal. It read as a non fiction but for some reason at the same time I really felt like I got to know the two boys characters, who they were and their motives behind what they did. I don't think that is always easy to do in a non fiction book. I know I got the book idea from these boards at one time. Thank you to whoever recommended it! 5 stars!

Susan from MD | 389 comments BNC read Eleanor's autobiography as a group read last year - there is a thread for the book. All of us who read the book really enjoyed it. You may want to go to that thread to see the discussion.

I think Alias and I have both pushed that book at various times. ;) It was an excellent book, Gjscollins. I agree with you. It was thoroughly researched and provided much insight into the motives of the two boys, the anguish of their parents, and the lives of the students who were killed. Now you've got me thinking I want to pull it out and read it again! ;)

As to Columbine---Dave Cullen I thought the book was excellent. He certainly gives one a lot to think about. He also corrects a lot of misconceptions about what took place and why that day.

Thanks for posting your January 2014 read. I've provided the link. Do you want to tell us how you would rate it and a few words about the book ?

message 108: by April (new)

April | 4 comments I would rate it a 4 or a 5, and I think the book was absouletly great. The girl in the book is obsessed with finding her real parents and she finds that her father is not what she thought he was. He was...well I can't tell you. It's a thrilling, a little romantic, family based and fiction at the same time :) I love it. It kept me interested the whole time.

Here is what I read in January:

The Whispering Land is the first Gerald Durrell book I have read, and I loved it! His writing is witty, informative, and engaging.
Rating: 5/5

Three Singles To Adventure
Rating: 5/5

Two In The Bush
Rating: 4/5

Dark Witch was an alright read. I am not usually a Nora Roberts fan, but this book was pretty good due to the elements of fantasy woven in.
Rating: 2/5

Marley and Me: Life and Love With the World's Worst Dog was a non-fiction pick, and it was okay. This is one I saw the movie first, and I preferred the film version to this one. I found Grogan's writing just a little bit dry for my taste.
Rating: 1/5

Drunken Forest, the
