I used to like these books, but recently I have been led to think that these books are really lacking. I think they lack archetypes entirely and don't fulfill the purpose of fantasy as a whole. What do you think?

Most definitely. The first three books were not the best but I thought they had a lot of potential. And then he wrote that last one. What a horrible end to that series.
I really enjoyed the series until I came to the ending of the 4th book. I mean the way he ended it it's like he was planning on writing a 5th book in series. I think he should write a 5th book.

Of course, sometimes the books made me laugh with the horrible descriptions but that's about it.
Btw, a hero's journey that actually works even with the main character being overly good about everything: The Kingkiller Chronicle.
Typical hero's journey and the author knows how to pace things. After all, it took him over 10 years to write and edit the first book. Sometimes taking longer to do a thing is actually better. It shows especially in the fine details. Excusing Paolini for starting his series when he was a kid is quite a stupid thing to do when he could've worked things over until they made more sense. He's still young. It would've still worked out fine for him.

KINGKILLER CHRONICLES ARE FREAKING AMAZING
