Ok, it had been a really good day, celebrating our freedom and the 4th of July on a beautiful day including time spent walking the greenway with my DD, reading and watching baseball on TV with my Mom and eating a nice meal with DH. Then the restaurant server comes up and says that all of the restaurant staff were watching the breaking news on television. Steve McNair, former Titans Quarterback and beloved Nashville sports icon is dead. Details are sketchy, guns and a homicide are involved, and I am deeply saddened and in shock.

I just saw that on ESPN about half an hour ago. What a terrible shock! It seems to me that there has been so MUCH tragedy in the last two weeks. I was grieved to hear this dreadful news. I've been hearing that Steve was a very unselfish guy who put others ahead of himself. What character that exhibits! NJ
This is a terrible shock. We just got home and I read the news off the internet to my husband. He couldn't believe it.Nancy you are correct, it has been a very unsettling two weeks with so many tragedies.

What horrible news. I know you always liked Steve McNair, I did too and rooted for him with the Titans. Horrible.
DH saw this earlier today on ESPN and was reading it to me. Thought of you right off, Ann, because I knew you always liked him. My best friend is from Nashville and her mama just loved Steve McNair, so I know she must be saddened by this, too. As NJ said, too many sad passings these last couple of weeks.
I followed this almost obsessively, I admit. He is from Mississippi. I figured it had to be a domestic from the beginning, but I don't think I could have figured it the way it happened.
None of here did either, CathyIt has been hard getting through the emotions of this one. Steve is in the hearts of many, many Tennesseans and Titans fans. I feel for his family and friends.
