What does everyone think so far? How does it compare to the movie?

I finished the book and actually think the movie is better, which is insane for me.

I think it's a combination of having seen two of the movies first, and the fact that I didn't really care for the way the story was told. I think the movie's more focused and realistic plot (for Middle Earth) helped as well. I don't want to say too much more for those who haven't finished yet, though.
