Vixen201 I lost my reading passion and want to get it back. I signed up for the Goodreads Reading Challenge to read 50 this year and I already behind. According to the challenge, 3 books behind. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks :-)

Veronica (In love with Patch No Logic Needed) | 469 comments Naura-I know right. I say I'm signing off. I do that two hours later.

Anyway, I really don't know what to tell you Vixen. I lost my reading passion. But I got it back a couple of months later. I just took a long break from reading.

Maybe you are reading the same genre or topic again and again.

You should try to actually read the suggestions that GR gives you or your friends, and read the 3 books you are missing.

Also you should put like a realistic number of book for your challenge parallel to the year you assigned them, for example, 2014 I will take 4 classes of gardening, sports, chess and biology so I probably am not going to read a lot while I have this new activities. And to make this example positive you could also read books about those topics and make it creative.

And the other suggestion I can give you is to read shorter books, less number of pages in order to read more and more pages every time you start a new book.

Hopefully this might help you.

Greetings bibliophile.

Gothie BioVenom (gotherellabiovenom) When I get in a reading slump I pick up some graphic novels.

Reading a few graphic novels makes me perk up again and be able to pick up a book.
They are quick to read and there are heaps of graphic novels.
They are graphic novels that are adaptions of books now as well as the usual superheroes.

message 17: by Tasula (new)

Tasula | 2 comments Vixen, I stay out of slumps by varying my genres. But no matter what, I couldn't live without reading every day.

message 18: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kellystud) | 110 comments I always try to reread a favorite book or series. That usually kick starts me into reading again. Sometimes I reread many books, then feel the need to jump back to reading new stuff.

message 19: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Gotherella thanks for the tip on graphic novels to get your reading passion back. I've never read a graphic novel. I like thrillers , what graphic novel would yo recommend?

message 20: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Vixen201, nice to have you in the group, welcome. You say you lost your passion for reading. I'm personally impressed you've read so many books already this year. Maybe don't commit to read as many next year. I love reading as well, but I don't nearly read 50 a year! I'm a slow reader. I love mysteries, romantic thrillers, memoirs to name a few genres .

There are may great ideas in this thread! I hope you find a way back to books and reading!

message 23: by Carmen (new)

Carmen Read something that is different from what you usually read. A short novel, which is not complicated with too many characters. Something fun, romantic and mindless. Summertime book.

I felt the same way right after I had my second baby. I felt so out of touch with reading. But after about three months without reading I missed it. But I was so busy with a new baby that I didn't have time to focus on it. I decided to reread books that I love! This got me back to reading without having to focus fully on a new book. Maybe try rereading a beloved book and you will find your passion for it again. Good Luck!

Jason Oliver Whenever I get this way, I go back to elementary style books or book series. Go read "Number the Stars" "The Giver" The Outsiders" They are short easy books to read that are among the best books ever written. It always reinvigorates my love for reading. Hope you get it
back.

Or try Audio books.
