Nurlely I will get confused again if I have to think about Katniss retrieving those arrows from the dead monkeys. Not only because there are still many monkeys left but also because she was running out of the forest with an almost empty tube. Then it was full of arrows again.

Maybe it is just a mere blooper. I still think the movie is awesome!

I agree! I wish they had just done a little make up or something. It's kind of necessary, in my opinion, because of Snow's past. You can't show in a movie that he smelled like blood, but at least make it look like there's something wrong with him physically...

Taylor I feel like they could use her few different ways...

One way would be for the Capitals propos that wouldn't be in the book, but something that keeps a good image on the capital.

Another way may be to introduce her to Katniss after the war is over in the presidents mansion. She could be a way for the directer to give details that they couldn't give in other ways.

That and to show Snow that no matter how he wanted to control everything, he can not control spreading influence.

Nikita Nothing, I thought it was great. What was changed or left out didn't ruin the movie for me. It was great.

. Nothing bothered me about the film!
Sure, they missed out some things, especially events at the beginning but the film in itself was an amazing and respectful adaptation.

Also, I adored the ending, to me it was powerful. Of course, when the credits came on, it was obvious to see who in the cinema screen didn't read the book (because of their outcry lol.)

Kerri I was happy with the movie! The necessary stuff made it to the screen and the unnecessary stuff didn't.

Jeremy I wanted to see the two people (I cant remember which district they were from) escaping to district 13 and katniss fining them by the lake. Also would love to have seen the past winners in their hunger games

YES actually!! Those were the only two (quite minor) concerns I had. I was really looking forward to the Games where Haymitch won.
And the two runaways were from District 8! :)

message 61: by Lara (new) - added it

Lara Iwas bothered less than I was in the difference in HP.

Susie Barnes I wish the district 8 people, Bonnie and Twill, had been in Mockingjay. I would have loved it if that story had continued, maybe with only one of them, but continued nonetheless.

L This movie I finally just saw today. It was so precisley true to the book it was literally ridiculous I was baffled. Literally in the beginning where Katniss goes to wake up Haymitch it was legit almost word for word from the book. Trust me. I know. I practically have that book memorized. Everything down to their facial expression and their lines were so extremely close to the book it was crazy. I loved it so much it was perfection. I have only 3 tiny little things:
1. What annoyed me was when Katniss kissed Gale right before she left to the reaping I believe. That never happened in the book it made it look like they were dating when they weren't.
2. When the morphling died in Peeta's arms I was a bit disappointed even though it was something so small that Peeta didn't talk to her about his paintings and the colors with the brushes and how the morphling didn't draw a flower on his face
3. Peeta's speech to Katniss on the beach should have been longer and deeper plus he didn't mention the baby. Katniss's fake pregnancy was huge in the story mentioned several times it was like after the interview the fact disappeared.
I loved:
Everything but especially the behind the scenes with snow. The look on his face when Finnick saves Peeta and Katniss is hugging him I was just like WHAT IN YOU'RE FREAKING ACE AND YOU SAID IT WASN'T LOVE YOU A-HOLE! And I love when his granddaughter says she wanted to be in love like Peeta and Katniss one day beautiful touch especially the look on his face when the force field explodes. The acting was perfection i could go on forever

Those 3 tiny little things are annoying enough.
I think they 'enhanced' the relationship between Gale-Katniss in the movie and 'lessened' Peeta's quality and true feeling in the movie in order to make the 'triangle love' more convincing.

Katie Hala wrote: "I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in the book isn't there this scene where Plutarch shows Katniss his mocking jay watch ? I think it was missing in the movie ?"

I totally agree!! I told my boyfriend that when we walked out! That scene brings the "tic toc" hint full circle. AND when they showed Plutarch it wouldnt have been such a shock that he was helping them. I totally forgot he came back in and it felt a little random until I remembered the dance and what the movie DIDNT show

message 66: by Anelis (last edited Feb 17, 2014 07:26AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Anelis Correct me if I'm wrong (it's been more than a year since I read the books and I have an awful memory) but didn't past victors inform Katniss that even after the games they were exploited and were up for sale to the highest bidder as sex slaves/prostitutes etc? I remember being shocked by that because it really made clear that they can never be safe and always will be the capitol's pawns.

They didn't even mention this in the movie, and although I can understand why (I too prefer movies without sexual violence or the threat of sexual violence) I still think it was a vital part of the world building. No one is safe, and no one was ever safe.

~In my mind I had imagined Cinna having a queer sexual orientation, and this was one of the reasons I loved him so much from the get-go. I adore movie and book Cinna in equal amounts.

Alexander I know this was mentioned before but they didn't mention the family sneaking in the forest going to district 13 and also they skipped the part in where Plutarch shows the watch to Katniss

Agreed it annoyed the crap out of me I just didn't want to make a big deal because you know all the "Team Gale" out there

description

anyways true they totally downplayed Peeta and Katniss together cutting their nights together short

Renae I was actually really happy with the movie. I thought for the most part, it was pretty close to the book.
It was just little things I was disappointed got left out.
One scene I really wanted was when Finnick and Katniss scare Peeta with stuff on their faces after the fog.
I felt like their relationship wasn't as friendly as in the book, but I guess they just wanted the suspense of Katniss not knowing who to trust.
Also, I wanted more intimate moments between Peeta and Katniss instead of the love triangle being emphasized! Ugh.

Jose Luis Meza Garcia I would have loved if they have shown two key scenes for me:

1 - When Peeta offers to give the victims one month of meals per year Katniss says nothing in the movies, but in the books it's the time when she starts thinking she could love him and kissed him.

2 - When Peeta is with Ceasar and tells him about the baby. In the movie Katniss says nothing, but in the books she admires him for being a genius.

I loved the movie, but little things like this stopped me from loving it as much as the book. In the book you can start feeling that Katniss is falling for Peeta, not in the movies. At least that's for me.

message 73: by Hannah (last edited Feb 18, 2014 11:16AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Hannah I felt we should have seen the two characters running to district thirteen, as well as show the clip where Katniss realizes there is a district thirteen. (Remember with the butterfly in the same place every year?) I don't think the movies touched on district thirteen enough, so anyone who hasn't read the book will probably be a bit confused.

Also, I wish they'd shown Plutarch showing Katniss his watch, and Haymitch's games. Both are pretty important scenes. Plutarch's watch helps Katniss figure out the arena (though it worked fine without it) and Haymitch's game is really what gave Katniss the idea to throw the arrow into the barrier at the end.

Those are probably the most important things they left out... I haven't read the books in awhile though, so I don't remember much either. I absolutely loved the movie though!

Lakeisha Don't get me wrong I loved that the movie remained true to the book since it was my favourite book out of the trilogy but I felt that they cut out some significant Katniss/Peeta scenes examples being the rooftop scene before they went into the arena or Peeta helping Katniss overcome PTS disorder. I really liked Catching Fire since it was the book that we find out Katniss truly loves Peeta because of all that he is and has done for her but that to me was a little bit of a let down.

Amirah I. Didn't anyone noticed they changed Buttercup from black in thg to ginger? He was my favourite character, it's not fair! :(

Dilara Croft the only thing that bothered me is how Mags volunteered for Annie, that was pretty fake & cheap i thought they could've done it wAY BETTER

I agree! There was the whole part of peeta and katniss reviewing old tapes to see who they might get put up against. It would have added to the movie to see haymitch's tape and how he used the force field..

message 79: by Aggeliki (last edited Feb 26, 2014 07:18PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Aggeliki Is it only me who hated the movie? Many essential details were cut off or replaced with things that didn't matter at all.
President had nothing to do with the book's character. He supposed to be vicious and his face changed by surgery, in order to look young...did we see that?
The worst part was in the arena. We didn't see that their worst enemy wasn't the other players but the forest around them. The cold, the thirst, the hunger and all the obstacles they had to face!

Sama you know the scene where she and gale were talking about leaving and he asked if she loves him or not? watch it two or three times and you will see how crappy jlaw acting in this part, she sounded like she was reading right off the script. this and they didnt make the scene where Peeta told her that most of his nightmares are about him losing her

If you read the first book. en saw the first movie. You shoud know that the people from district 1 and 2 always volunteer. They train their entire childhood for it. So it is really not strange for the kid to say that.

But i really mist a couple of things.
Like the weddings dresses that where send to katniss. The quiter quell where haymitch was is.
And most of all that she saw two people ad the shedd by the lake that where going to district 13!
also I was really disappointed that they didn't show the pocket watch of plutard with the mockingjay on it. I looked forward to seeing how they did it.

I did really like the movie. Even with the flaws. It did make up for it because it was so good.

Bailie I didn't like the ending to the movie because I don't like where they ended it. I mean that is where they ended the action part of the book but there was more story line after that and in the movie Gale said that there was not district twelve anymore and that was the end and there was no more story line after that. and I think they left out a lot of the important parts that the book described so the movie was a little off from the book which bothered.

Hayley she didnt break or sprain her ankle in the movie from jumping from the tree

Rachel They included the part when Peeta tells everyone that he and Katniss are having a baby, but they just left it there (I know it was untrue, but still). In the book I remember they said Peeta laid his hand on Katniss's stomach and said "You're going to be a great mom" or something like that. They didn't mention the baby thing at all while they were in the arena.

Raynebow I didn't like how they made finnick seem very shifty. Also he had a lot of humor in the book but he was very serious in the movie.

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

Caersar's laughter was disgusting. Just as I might suspect. He's the People Magazine/TMZ/Oxygen crap of the Hunger Games world, which is kind of the point. You're suppose to grind your teeth.

Brittany Like what some other people said, I wanted to see Haymitch's victor tape on how he won. It didn't annoy me, but i wish it was in there.

Dylan Too many things to point out that's for sure. I'd have to watch it again and count out each thing.

Dylan But the ending was probably it. Her mix of emotions and sudden look of fury into the camera was laughable and cheesy.

message 94: by Lara (new) - added it

Lara I missed the picnic scene. It would have added so much more. I think they played gimmick that way because of what they want to do with his character in MJ.

Deaths coming torture mastrer-if you want someone torture he wil I loved the movie in my opinion it is better than the book....

sorry for the silence just had to wait for the gasp yes I did say it
in my opinion it is a weak book that was slopply put together and badly paced the movie fixed that problem and it keeped most of the details I know some of you are upset about missing out of the clues about district 13 but they had to be cut. the thing I miss the most is haymich hunger games. if any of you say a bad thing about president snow in the movie I will kill you

message 96: by Ema (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ema they didn't have anything about the avoxes again in this movie except for one scene where there is an avox with a weird mask in the background, also they didn't have the mockingjay watch

Carmela Paigetwo *Caitlyn* wrote: "The elevator scene... Katniss' face looked strange."
I liked how "JLaw" did that, I think it showed how awkward she felt when Johanna took off her clothes. Eh, that's just how I thought about that scene. :)

Hannah Dear uhhh.... Johanna in the elevator and Haymitch's reaction

Other than that, the fact that we didn't get to see Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch training.

message 99: by Lara (new) - added it

Lara Most the movies is JLaw letting her inner Katniss come out. That is Katniss's inner JLaw coming out.
