Neha I wish I could see the Rooftop Garden scene. But maybe that wasn't necessary to have in the movie, so...

notyourfriend The elevator scene... Katniss' face looked strange.

//Rustic Fantasy\\ I hate the ending even though that's pretty much how the book ended.

Shuwaineez I was a little surprised when I first saw President Snow in the first movie. When I was reading the book, I always imagined him as lean and cruel looking, with thin lips.
In the movie Catching Fire, I felt the whole love triangle thing was a bit overdone, especially with Katniss and Gale. Maybe because they had to put everything in 2 hours 20 minutes, I don't know..
And yes, I also thought Cinna came off a bit more gayer in the movie than in the book.

My thouhts exactly.

THIS

Stupid Fox I didn't like the things it left out like Katniss getting stuck outside of District 12 and having to jump over the fence from a tree and hurting herself... Or the picking of wedding dresses and the essential threat Snow sent her with that... Cinna and the others visiting her before the last minute... There were so many important things left out. And more than anything, I'd have liked them to have shown a flash back for Haymitch's games since that was explored here.

And to OP: I didn't feel Cinna came off gay at all. He was a fashionable, charming, metrosexual perhaps... but not gay. It's part of the setting that the oddities in the capital folk are a bit less gender binary. Certainly nothing wrong with the portrayal of Cinna. He was perfect imo.

Taylor I agree with Arshness about her getting stuck outside, and even more was left out before the games actually start. I get why they didn't put in the part with the two characters running from their district to 13 because they don't appear in the next one, but it felt like there was a lot that wasn't as explained or touched on, when other things were focused on more than I expected it to.

Stupid Fox Same issue I had with The Hunger Games movie honestly. It left out too much of the real meat of the story while focusing on the gore and violence.

It was flash and bang and loud noises... not the subtle dances of the book.

The things most sorely misrepresented in the movies so far is all of the stuff that goes on with the capital people. I hope Mockingjay is done right. They need to do some serious catch up to show people what Katniss' relationship to the capital people really is.

tatum ♥ They definitely over-did the movie. The effects weren't that good. Katniss's face looked really strange in most parts. The book was definitely better than the movie 100%.

message 11: by Ella (new)

Ella It was a great movie but it really bothered me that Katniss didn't meet Bonnie and Twill.

But apparently the they did film the rooftop scene it just didn't get put in the movie, so it might be in the deleted scenes.

Ashalee i really wanted to see the scene when haymitch won his quater quills and how they make gale and katniss look so "in love" other than that it was really good.

message 13: by Halo (new) - rated it 5 stars

Halo I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in the book isn't there this scene where Plutarch shows Katniss his mocking jay watch ? I think it was missing in the movie ?

Sophie Thomson I thought it was a great movie adaption. The only thing that annoyed me was the extra kiss between Gale and Katniss ( speaking as a Peeta fan)

message 15: by John (new) - rated it 5 stars

John West I thought the movie went fairly accurate to the book. Nothing really bothered me. I thought all the characters stayed true to their form. Book fans have to realize how big of a book Catching Fire was and that the movie producers have time limits and budgets.

Shauna Neha (Athena) (Bast) (Queen Elinor) wrote: "I wish I could see the Rooftop Garden scene. But maybe that wasn't necessary to have in the movie, so..."

I too would have liked more from the book go into the movie. I guess that's one of the things that generlly make the book better than the movie...

Gibran Gonzalez I didn't like Sam Clafin as Finnick and I was really expecting to see the second quarter quell.

That was all jennifer lawrence in that scene lol

PinkyJapan Hala wrote: "I don't know if anyone else noticed, but in the book isn't there this scene where Plutarch shows Katniss his mocking jay watch ? I think it was missing in the movie ?"

You're right, that wasn't in it. I kept waiting to see it too, when they were dancing. It's pretty important because it #1 hints that the area is a clock, #2 shows Katniss that he is on her side.

Molly It bothered me when they left out the part where Peeta and Katniss are on the train watching the past victors highlight tapes. Mostly because Haymitch's story was in there and it was a very important part in the story because it revealed some of Haymitch's character but it also helped Katniss and Peeta in some ways.

Sammy Young Missing out all of the time Haymitch spent in the arena

message 22: by Lily (new) - rated it 3 stars

Lily I thought the scene when she was being lifted out of the arena was horrible.

And they forgot the people in the woods in District 12 sneaking off the District Thirteen.

Donna I would have preffered to see more of their time in the Arena but I guess you can't make the movie too long.

I thought that too

camie Katniss looked way older, but I didn't really mind.

Nicole Nothing. I really loved the whole thing.

message 27: by AgCl (last edited Feb 06, 2014 08:18PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

AgCl that they'd cut off bonnie and twill and darius and even madge and her family in the first one, but they got buttercup in even if he's useless.

...and they're 1 man...er woman short of the prep team, i know its not important but it sort of bothers me.

Nicole Christina wrote: "I have a question and this doesn't bother me, but it makes me curious.

Why don't they ever show Gale's and Peeta's families? I know Peeta's family don't have big roles and neither does Gale's, but..."

Maybe they didn't want to pay more actors? lmao

Tiffiny Um, Sam Claflin as Finnick. He bothered me a bit.

message 30: by Madi (new)

Madi Cassin I didn't like how rushed it was.
I felt like I had to concentrate really hard to keep up with all the action.
Also like everyone else is saying, the ending is not very well done.
but apart from that I loved it. <3

Kelly Brigid ♡ 1: I didn't like how in order to include all the drama in the movie, they rushed through the games. The movie was like 2 and a half hours long and only an hour of the games.

2: Plutarch never showed Katniss the watch. Not, that it was necessary but it would've been more interesting I suppose if he did so.

3: Johanna. Umm....kinda wished they didn't include that whole elevator scene like in the book. I was hoping they didn't have that in there.

4: Was it just me, or did they make Cinna more gay in this one than the first one?

5: And, I would've liked a better actor to play Finnick.

I still freaking LOVED the movie though! :D

Sarah Neptune wrote: "It didn't bug me, but I kept waiting for Plutarch to tell Katniss "It starts at midnight". It's my favorite line from the book and it helps Katniss to work out the clock."

Yeees!!! That scene was very importen in the book because it helped Katniss figure out the arena.

Also when they turned around the arena they didn't put a lightning tree in every area.

But I really loved the movie and I think it was very near to the book!!

MommyDearest Finnick carrying Mags on his back the whole time. IIRC didn't that just occur one time?

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

It unnerved me at how realistic is seemed. Is it just me?

Kelsey Munn That Katniss never got "white-girl wasted". That part in the book was beaautiful when Peeta took care of her and that is where, "Always" came from. Plus, I would of been funny to see JLaw be drunk haha.

Your right. I saw the movie before I read the book so I don't remember all those little details. Movie comes out in 3 weeks.

I liked that because she goes to sleep with her head in his lap.

Bridgette The ending really bothered me. She looks away from the camera, dramatically, with tears in her eyes. Close up of her face, her face hardens, and she looks directly at the camera and stares at you like she wants to kill everyone in the theater. The book ended with Gale telling her there was no District 12. The movie elongated it a little too much.

Susie Barnes Shuwaineez wrote: "I was a little surprised when I first saw President Snow in the first movie. When I was reading the book, I always imagined him as lean and cruel looking, with thin lips.
In the movie Catching Fire..."

He's described in the books as having unnaturally swollen lips. I saw the first movie before I read the books so when I read it I saw Donald Southerland.

Fabitha I'm sorry but I don't like the acting of Peeta's actor (I don't even rememeber the name, maybe Josh something...?). I didn't like it in the first movie and I didn't like it in the second. It's...unappealing. Plain. It makes you wonder why in the world should she choose him over Gale. And, please, was it so over the budget to give him a pair of blue lens?!

And I miss Haymitch quarter quell too! I know, the movie is already long, but 'cmon...everybody wanted it.

Anyway, I totally fell in love with Jennifer. *___* she's stunning.

Totally agree, especially about the watch. That just annoyed me.

But I LOVED the movie, and I thought it was so much better than the first one. Now, if you asked me to list what bothered me in that . . .

Stephanie Bolen So I was the only one who missed the entire part of the book where District 13 was still there. It was where Katniss wanted to go try to find it when they are thinking about leaving. Katniss figures out that the scene of District 13's destruction is reused over and over again. That part showed the fact that Katniss was smart and that all was not as it seems with District 13.

Drew Sofia wrote: "i didn't see it yet. im getting sick of the hunger games, and once i was obsessed with them. idk maybe i expected more of the book in the movie, like they're missing the whole point of the book"

I thought Francis Lawrence did an amazing job at capturing the whole idea of the book and turning it into a film. I didn't like the first movie much either. But if you haven't seen it yet, I would definitely recommend watching Catching Fire. The director was different from the first one, and (I thought) it was a hundred million times better than The Hunger Games movie.

Crystal C. Jonson Neha (Athena) (Queen Elinor) wrote: "I wish I could see the Rooftop Garden scene. But maybe that wasn't necessary to have in the movie, so..."

I agree! I was looking forward to that! I think that scene helped tell Katniss and peeta's story. He was more than a puppy in love, she had feelings for him too.

Nurlely Maybe it's just me... but I think Katniss was never out of arrows ever. There were always plenty of arrows for her even though I think I saw in one scene that she used almost all of them.

Susie Barnes Stephanie wrote: "So I was the only one who missed the entire part of the book where District 13 was still there. It was where Katniss wanted to go try to find it when they are thinking about leaving. Katniss figure..."

She didn't figure it out, Bonnie and Twill told her and then she realized it.

That's the willing suspension of disbelief. It's what makes a reader of fantasy/sci fi/horror etc. You can do it!

Nurlely Susie wrote: "That's the willing suspension of disbelief. It's what makes a reader of fantasy/sci fi/horror etc. You can do it! "

I tried to ignore that but then the dangling arrows were kind of distracting, especially when she shot so many monkeys with them already.
Maybe they are pop-up arrows. Well... that sorts out my confusion then... ;)

Susie Barnes It's also possible she recovered some of them and used them again.

Remember that in the chase in Bullit with Steve McQueen his car loses six hubcaps. Continuity is important but is sometimes sacrificed.
