Once Upon a Time and I will be starting this tomorrow, February 6th if anyone would like to join us :)P.S. It is very strange to change the start date of a buddy read before the book was even buddy read the first time through!
How are you doing with the book Once? My surgery was a little harder on me than I thought it would be so I couldn't start it until today.

Did you look up the songs too? I don't know a lot of these songs so I decided to look them up. They aren't what I'd pick for a night club, but that's just me.
The reason I read this book was because it deal with music. I love music. I thought it incorporated that nicely through the whole book. I wasn't sure how well I was going to like because it was contemporary. I usually read paranormal romance or dystopian. So it was good in the since of that. I thought it taught an important lesson as well.
I don't usually read contemporary books either because I also prefer paranormal and dystopian books, but I've been trying to expand what I read. I was drawn to the music aspect of the book too and I also really liked that part. I think that if I liked contemporary books more then maybe I would have given it a higher rating, but I thought some of it was a little cheesy.
@Jalyn, this isn't an example of a good contemporary book. Just like "13 reasons why" it takes suicide and teenage problems way to lightly. For TSWSYL the beginning is very strong, but then it becomes something like: let's make everything easy for the main character because she's actually awesome and everyone around her is stupid for not liking her. Elise is a very stuck up person if you manage to read between the lines. People don't like her because she's full of herself, not because she's a geek. After all, geeks are friends with other geeks. If you want a good and strong contemporary book try: Please Ignore Vera Dietz or Saving Francesca.

Nobody's parents would be ok with that unless they were negligent, and her parents weren't). And though I think the author was trying to portray her differently, Elise does come off as full of herself.
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll have to check those out :)
Well Megan originally commented 'Chelsie and I will be starting this Feb. 29 if anyone wants to join.'
But there is no February 29th so I'm not sure!

Oh yes, i think that's why i put march 1st on the shelves. Looks like it's 50/50 if anyone will turn up. :(

You guys can use it, the girl I was reading with hasn't showed up for any of the others. Hope you guys enjoy it!

I'm wondering if any help was actually sought out. They haven't mentioned it yet so maybe I just haven't gotten there yet, but I agree. Hopefully she talked to someone.
