Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) | 445 comments STGRB victims now have some recourse, see http://angie.booklikes.com/post/77447... .
If not sure if you are on their hate lists or other site areas, search "name site:STGRB.com" for your name, user name, and screen names. Don't visit the links found as STGRB tracks IP addresses but share the search and links with their hosting site support as explained in the booklikes post.

If you never heard of or did anything for or against STGRB, don't review, don't review indie authors or whatever -- you could still be there just for things like following the wrong reviewer or having the wrong reviewer follow you here or other booksites (LibraryThing, booklikes, etc.) or importing a data file to/from goodreads (because you have to be a bully/troll/failed-author in STGRB world if you add several hundred books in a day; they don't recognize data imports as a real method of adding books/reviews to a site).

Petra X (petra-x) I am on it with my screen name and a link to my profile here. I'm not sure if it matters. I'm not quite sure what I did except upset someone who pretends to be a reader sometimes and an author the rest of the time in a some comments . I don't know if it matters it's just a screen name. What do you think? Opinion appreciated.

No one really cares
It is a stupid site
I have a hard time believing a true reader...not a blogger or a writer but just a reader would even read that nonsense

I think you should be mildly concerned about possible access to your IP address. I don't know if they have the tech savvy to trace you based solely on that information. I know I don't possess it.

My name wasn't there (my full name) but I know they have mentioned me in the past. I don't invite that kind of attention.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) I don't get how we see if we're there if it's best to avoid the site!

Google your full name + STGRB. Then don't click on the links (if any) :)

I only found my name in posts here where I referred to the vile creatures.

Thank you, Jennifer! (Unfortunately, early on I went and checked them out. I hope they realize a lot of people go there for that reason. Ugh.)

Trainwrecks are like that.

Yep. At least most train wrecks don't involve malice.

Short answer -- who wants to make it easy for the types of authors who believe in that site to stalk your reviews/posts?

Longer, snarkier answer: I don't think it exactly matters except that (1) should annoy STGRB (2) makes it harder to get unwanted attention from the types of bba and others who do pay attention to the STGRB site and swallow the kool-aid that we are all wanna be failed authors out to bully and attack all of those otherwise successful authors on the site (3) makes work for STGRB "staff" and (4) because it bears repeating, should annoy STGRB.

Not so bad an idea to support a hosting site willing to acknowledge that STGRB tactics are not acceptable by taking advantage of their offer. That site has hate lists calling for attacks (virtual and real life) on reviewers who may not have done more than follow the wrong reviewer (not that anything done justifies calling for attacks).

willaful Even searching for them could reveal information about you to them. There are sites which will disguise your IP address for you, if you really want to go there. I don't think it's worth the trouble, myself. Being on their list would be a badge of honor, if it weren't so often based on gult by association.

message 12: by willaful (new)

willaful P.S. Having looked at the post, if they are actually using people's full names then it probably is worth the trouble. I thought they'd stopped doing that, but I stopped paying attention a long time ago.
